Matthew J. Markey, MD, PA, has been practicing internal medicine for over 40 years in the community of Cumming, Georgia. Dr. Markey is devoted to both the health of his patients and the education of the next generation of doctors. He has been an assistant professor of medicine at Emory University and continues serving as a clinical assistant professor of medicine, inviting Emory medical students into his office each month.
As an internal medicine specialist, Dr. Markey offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for chronic medical issues, including diabetes, congestive heart failure, asthma, and hypertension. He spends quality time with each patient, creating customized care plans to address their individual needs. Dr. Markey also offers referrals to a select group of specialists where he can be sure that each patient’s health continues to be a top priority.
After graduating summa cum laude from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, where he attended on a football scholarship, Dr. Markey pursued his medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He was accepted into the school as one of only a handful of doctors from across the country and trained with medical peers from Harvard, Princeton, Duke, and Yale. He completed five years of internship and residency training in internal medicine at Emory University and Grady Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Markey has a passion for preventive medicine and together with his dedicated staff, he offers valuable resources for preventing disease and improving each patient’s quality of life. His loyal medical team has been with him at the same location for 39 years, happily serving Cumming and the surrounding communities.
