Matthew W. Shawl, MD, is a board-certified otolaryngologist and facial plastic surgery specialist in Manhattan with an office located in Union Square. Dr. Shawl takes a personal approach to patient care, taking the time necessary to listen to his New York City patients’ needs so he can provide the most effective and attentive care. He also values his patient’s time and never overbooks, so his patients don’t have to wait.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in economics from the prestigious Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia, Dr. Shawl relocated to New Orleans to enter a combined degree program. He earned a Master in Public Health at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and a Doctor of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine.
Dr. Shawl then completed a general surgery internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City, before completing his otolaryngology - head and neck surgery residency at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, also in New York City. To further his skill set, Dr. Shawl completed a fellowship in facial plastic surgery with Wallace K. Dyer, MD, FACS, in Atlanta.
Dedicated to his career, Dr. Shawl is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngology, the American Medical Association, and the Medical Society of the State of NY.
He’s also had many teaching responsibilities, including otolaryngology at Manhattan Eye, Ear, & Throat Hospital, as well as facial plastics at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology.
Dr. Shawl is a courteous and dedicated physician who places his patient’s needs above all else. He welcomes new and existing patients seeking outstanding ENT and plastic surgery services with a personal touch to his practice.
