We will never forget. Please take a moment of silence today to honor and remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. #patriotday
Did you know that 40% the red blood cells and 42% of the platelets in the National Blood Supply go to help inpatient, hematology and oncology patients? That’s why this summer, CCNW hosted a blood drive with our community blood donation center Vitalant - Washington & Idaho. We had a total of 56 employees make a blood donation, which will benefit 168 lives. Donating blood is one of the easiest ways to give back to our community. This simple, lifesaving action has the remarkable power to transform lives. Thank you to all CCNW employees who participated!

My week of celebrating my 11th year as a cancer survivor just keeps getting better with the opportunity to meet up with my amazing surgical oncologist Dr Stephanie Moline from Cancer Care Northwest this morning! I presented her with my Survivor medal from my recent Race for the Cure and it was so awesome to be able to wish her Happy Birthday!! Until you hear those words “You have cancer” it is hard to describe the gratitude you have towards someone like this to have been part of your cancer journey! #CancerCareNW #bestdoctorever #survivor #warriorstrong #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth

In 2019, we filmed Deb's breast cancer journey. Diagnosed in 2008, she has not let cancer define her and is living every day to the fullest. Deb's story is so inspirational and authentic that we wanted to share with you all again during #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. #BreastCancerSurvivor

It is projected that 6,690 women in Washington state will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. That’s why CCNW collaborated with Spokane Riverfront Park to light the park up pink in honor of #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. We hope this will help to bring awareness of the disease and raise funds for research into the cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. Together we fight. Together for a cure!
Thank you to our physicians who visited the park this week to observe this momentous occasion!

Exciting news! CCNW is now offering an advanced molecular imaging service, Gallium-68 (GA-68) Dotatate PET/CT scans, for the localization of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) that are somatostatin receptor positive. NET tumors develop most commonly in the lungs, appendix, small intestine, rectum, and pancreas and produce an “overexpression” of a specific cell feature called somatostatin receptors. Molecular imaging technologies use this cell feature to detect cancerous cells throughout the body and as a target for the delivery of therapy. GA-68 PET/CT scans are performed on CCNW's newest PET/CT machine, the GE Healthcare Discovery IQ 4-Ring PET/CT scanner, located at the CCNW South Clinic. Click on the link below to learn more about this highly advanced imaging service.

Please read this The Spokesman-Review Letter to the Editor, signed by physicians from Cancer Care Northwest, Plastic Surgery Northwest, Northwest Breast Center and Inland Imaging, in response to recent misleading media coverage which suggested prioritization of breast ultrasound over #mammography as a first-line screening tool in women at average risk of breast cancer. As part of an experienced community of physicians who treat Inland Northwest breast cancer patients, we felt it was important to set the record straight about current #breastcancer screening guidelines and best practices, as established by the American Cancer Society.

The US Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) released new guidelines for annual lung cancer screening through low-dose CT scans. The new guidelines lowered the recommended age range to begin screening from 55 to 50 and reduced the minimum pack-year smoking history from 30 to 20. The purpose of performing low-dose CT scans is to detect lung cancer early when treatment options can be most effective, which will reduce the lung cancer mortality rate. If you qualify for lung cancer screening, please consult with you doctor or call Inland Imaging at (509) 363-7799 for more information.
