Wax ring failures are more common than you may think! The waxy gasket that connects your toilet to the waste drain, can cause major damage when separated. A lot of times this problem is hard to detect. Once separated, every time the toilet is flushed, a little bit of waste water can leak between your finish material and the subflooring.
Most would consider this a seemingly normal bathroom pictured on a job we recently serviced. However, once a moisture meter was placed around the base of the toilet, we learned that the wax ring had failed.
