Fuel Mix Storage II
Paint your two-cycle fuel/mix containers with a special color (yellow or other) and label them with the correct mixture ratio (50:1). You can most likely use the same mixture for all your other two-stroke equipment. Use this container only for your two-cycle equipment. If you accidentally put straight fuel (no oil mix) into a two cycle engine it will completely ruin it in less than a minute.
2-Cycle Equipment
A basic spring service performed each year should include, at least, the following;
Sharpen or Replace and Adjust Chain (chainsaw) as needed.
Inspect air filter for dirt accumulation now, and before each usage and clean or replace. Replace air filter after 25 hours.
Inspect spark plug/s every 25 hours and replace if fouled.
Inspect entire unit including all wear items such as control cables, sprockets, handles, tubes and other parts and watch for worn, cracked, pinched or otherwise damaged parts, and replace if found.
Drain fuel-mix from fuel system and replace with fresh fuel-mix if it has been over three months since last usage without fuel stabilizer. If performing and end-of-season service, drain fuel tank or run engine until it runs out of fuel. (alternatively you may dose "fresh" fuel-mix with a fuel stabilizer)
A Well Managed Lawn
To create a thick, healthy lawn with deep root structure perform the following; fall fertilization, short mowing in early spring to encourage growth, taller mowing in the hot months, mulching (not bagging) and watering deeply and infrequently (only when the lawn needs it) in the early morning hours. Keeping your mower well tuned and your blades sharp will assure a clean cut and reduce emissions
Brown Tips on Your Grass?
Check for dull blades on your mower. Dull blades rip and tear the grass instead of cutting it. If your grass tips are turning yellow and brown in the days after a cutting, you were probably cutting with dull blades. This further stresses heat and drought punished grass, and it makes for a not-so-pretty lawn.
IT MAY STILL HAPPEN !
Starting a Snow Clearing Session II
Always check your oil level, air filter, fuel level, belts and verify that nothing has fallen into the snow blower chute before you start. Do not operate without clean engine oil filled to the proper level, a clean well-fitting air filter, clean fresh fuel and flexible (not cracked) belts.
