McCallum Place-Kansas City offers partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient eating disorder treatment programs which provide support and treatment while allowing higher levels of independence. Our 6-hour or 10-hour, 7 days per week Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is for those individuals needing structure to restore medical stability, change food rituals, or stop eating disorder behaviors. For many, the 10-hour PHP is an alternative to residential care. The IOP level of care is for individuals needing a more structured program than outpatient therapy alone, but who do not require partial hospitalization. FEBRUARY IS HAPPY HEARTS MONTH February is a great time to remember to keep our hearts happy! Eating disorders can be quite hard on our hearts, with the potential to cause heart weakening, rhythm problems, and dangerously low blood pressure. We can rally back and reverse these complications. Our hearts pump 24/7 to deliver our bodies the blood supply we need. Our hearts need a good supply of fluids, to provide our organs with blood. Our hearts need nourishment to keep their strength and shape. Our hearts need a good balance of blood salts, to maintain the proper rhythm and pumping capability to beat at a good pace. Our hearts need our bodies to take care of them – so that they can care for us. Please use this month to think about your heart: feed it well, treat it well, and it will take care of you! ~Dr Caroline Rudnick, MD, PhD, CEDS #happyhearts #WearRedDay #cardiovascularhealth #eatingdisorderawareness
