Children Targeted with Racist Hate Symbol by Universal Costumed Character
MIAMI – A costumed character displayed the hate symbol for White Supremacy while posing with a 5-year-old Hispanic girl at Universal Studios on February 16, 2019. Just five weeks later, on March 23, 2019, a person dressed as the same Minions’ character, Felonious Gru, displayed the same hate symbol while posing with a 6-year-old biracial autistic girl. Both families, through their Miami-based attorneys, Jack McLuskey and Lisa Riddle of McLuskey, McDonald & Hughes, P.A., filed Complaints with the Florida Commission on Human Relations, charging Universal with public accommodation discrimination, in violation of Fla Stat. § 760.08. Photos of the two incidents (faces blurred) are attached.
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) is an annual health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and most importantly FOR A CURE. Like so many of our clients, friends and families, the McLuskey, McDonald & Hughes’ family has also been touched by this terrible disease. Today the firm wore pink to commemorate those that are victims of the disease, to support those that fight the good fight each day against the disease and, best of all, to celebrate those that won the battle and beat cancer. Attached are photos of our attorneys and staff gathering in their pink attire and matching pink socks. Please join us in this fight to find a cure for breast cancer.
