Camping and Hiking are great ways to have fun as well as maintain social distancing in the great outdoors. However, there are safety hazards you need to be aware of and precautions you should take when you are in nature. Know the greens around you. Poison Ivy, Poison Oak or Sumac will most likely be present in the woods, so be sure to be on the lookout. These plants can cause skin rashes, and all though they can usually be treated at home, in severe cases you may need to see your primary care physician to treat the rash. Also, you should be aware of ticks. Though most ticks do not carry life-threatening diseases such as Lyme disease, it is important to remove the tick quickly to prevent infection and avoid possible disease exposure! Tomorrow is #NationalCheerUpTheLonelyDay! With everything going on in the world today, it is important to stay in touch and stay connected with people virtually, especially those who are immune deficient and being extra careful during this time. With suicide already being the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. (according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention statistics), people already struggling with depression may need the extra support. Research has also shown the importance of social connections in helping people overcome depression and suicidal thoughts. With that said, if you know someone that seems to be lonely, this is a reminder to send them a text, call or video chat to cheer them up! https://buff.ly/2O95TKF . . . . . . . . #onetoonehealth #socialdistancing #maintainingconnections #patientcare #patientlove #selfcare #selflove #lovingothers #bekind #humanshelpinghumans #connection #suicideprevention #suicideawareness #mentalhealth YOUTUBE.COM CDC Works to Stop Suicide
