Today we say a bittersweet goodbye to Kenzie as she (re)embarks on her journey as a full-time massage therapist 😢💚😌
It’s hard to explain how hugely Kenzie saved us this Spring season. When COVID started, there was more people gardening than ever before, and she agreed to come work for us again.
We will miss her eye for detail and organization, her patience, and her laugh 💚
As much as we hate to say goodbye, we are so excited for her to be working at Soma doing what she was meant to do! Go see her there for a massage!! She is amazing.
Love you 💚 Fly away sweet friend!
By 9am this morning we had already completed 2 rescue missions.
1) Nellie got stuck in the tree [not pictured: her scaling some of the highest branches of this Red Oak😡]
2) Zane (our hero) got Nellie down and then had to be rescued himself 😂
This teenage cat is driving us bonkers 🤪
Pumpkins! Pansies! Picture-shy kitties! 😂🎃
She will only stay put when I catch her candid. If I try to put her in front of something then, forget it, she’s outta there 😤🤪
Cannot contain my excitement about our new stained glass pieces 😍
I tried to wait for a holiday to show them off but they’re just too pretty!!! I couldn’t wait 😂
We have a local artist from Decatur that lovingly handcrafts these beauties 💚
☀️ It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood ☀️
“Can I plant trees in Fall? What about Winter?” 🌳🌴🌲
The answer is YES. Planting in 🍁Fall/Winter❄️ gives your trees plenty of time to root in before they are hit with the stress of our 100 degree Summers☀️
It is for this reason that we 1) get lots of trees 2) plant lots of trees during the Fall and Winter. Pictured is Ted Meador (our fearless leader😄) in front of a big ole tree shipment we just got in for Fall. The second of many 🥳
I once heard that American Beautyberries got their namesake because they are good for your complexion when eaten. However, they are quite bitter...
We’ve gotten a lot of beautiful stuff recently.

Are you emoji’d out yet? 😂
An ode to my favorite native, and one of my favorite plants in general: Little Blue Stem.
It’s gorgeous this time of year, and you can still see it in stands of unmowed grass around here.
So many COLORS! Red, fuschia, lime green, gold, orange, and brown. I like to imagine what this region must’ve looked like, centuries ago, when bison roamed. Can you picture an entire field of this??
By planting natives like this one, we can support native wildlife. We have a list of natives we carry on our website and have brochures at the store 💚
Volunteer opportunities are plentiful at LLELA in Lewisville. If you are interested in restoring Blackland Prairie or even just seeing it in its glory!!
Our perennials are POPPIN! Where to start?
Just like trees & shrubs - 🍂 Fall is a great time to plant perennials as it gives them time to get established before Summer ☀️
Autumn Sage Coral Lipstick 🍂 Autumn Sage “Vibe Ignition” Purple 🍂 Salvia Nemorosa “Blue Marvel” 🍂 Mexican Bush Sage 🍂 Brazilian Rock Rose 🍂 Texas Rock Rose 🍂 Agastache “Blue Boa” 🍂 Fall Aster 🍂 Threadleaf Coreopsis 🍂 Four Nerve Daisy 🍂and many more not pictured!
Thank you for #shoppinglocal 💚 And TGIF!!!!
Just enjoying this GOURDgeous Fall weather! 🙃🍂🧡
Silly kitty likes being upside down! 😹🙃
There are a whopping 230 FLATS of pansies on this delivery 😅 Notice the cinder blocks at the bottom of the trailer... There’s a 2nd layer down there.
👏🏼 Team work sure does make the dream work 😉
Everykitty, everyplant, and everyone is enjoying this beautiful day. Lots of customers coming in for pansies 😊 taking advantage of the gorgeous weather ☀️
PS Those shrubs are called Candy Corn Spirea. New to the market. Aren’t the fabulous?
Most everyone here at Meador’s is so excited to welcome Katie to our team 🤩
She has an extensive knowledge of Central and North Central Texas natives, fruit-bearing plants, and plants for pollinator gardens.
Feel free to come by and soak in some of her wisdom and/or say hi on this beautiful day!!!
And oh ya- Happy Halloween!!! 🎃 👻 🦇

I can’t be the only one that finds bulbs pretty 💚🌷
We even have instructional guides so you aren’t left out in the cold... that’ll just be your bulbs 🥶😏
Playing around with some of the pretty planters we have laying around 🐚🌸🌿 So much potential!
Sure feels like the end of Fall 😢 But Texans know not to trust what the weather’s doing 😂
Kathleen’s special weather deducing antennae say ‘Yes it’s cold but we are still here; come on down!’

Happy 16th birthday to Miles Meador, our knight in shining armor this Spring.
We are always so grateful for his help, especially this Spring when we were short-handed. Several days a week after his school work was finished, Miles was up here, working with us as an essential part of our team!
We miss his hard work and dry sense of humor. Happy birthday sweet friend!!!!
I’ve said it THRICE 😂 and I’ll say it again - Winter is tree planting time & we got a big delivery in this week🌳🌲
Come by and see what we have, we’d be happy to plant them for you and provide a year warranty.
If you plant them, warranty terms are different but we will still provide you with the information you need to be successful!
Thank you for supporting us in 2021! 🥰💚
Lenten Rose (Helleboras) has got to be one of my favorites. Shade-loving, low-growing, water efficient, evergreen, one of the few late winter bloomers, this plant is unique in almost every way. And look at those flowers - simply gooorgeous.
It will brighten up the shady spot in your yard when hardly anything else (in January & February anyway) will.
Hard to believe it’s the last day of 2020. What a year! We laughed, we cried, we fell more in love with Nellie. But mostly - we adapted.
Thank you to our faithful customers for continuing to shop here through construction and pandemic. We owe you. Wishing everyone a happy new year. Lots of love from the Meadors family.
P.S. We close at noon today 12/31 and are closed all of New Year’s Day.
Holiday hours:
Open till noon 12/24
Closed - Christmas Day
Regular hours resume 12/26
Against all odds ❤️
A tree is always a good gift idea 🎁
Did you know... the city of Denton has a tree rebate program where you can apply for a $50 rebate for qualifying native and adapted trees?
Check out the website mentioned on the first picture for more details.
Many qualifying trees around the nursery are marked and we will have a list up front. Planting trees now while they’re dormant lessens shock 💚🌳
Must have valid driver's license.
1 year landscape installation experience.
Drive crew to jobsite, help with the installation of plants, trees and hardscape materials.
Ability to read and understand landscape plans a plus.

Extreme cold weather coming up in the forecast ❄️🚨🥶 Here’s what to do for your plants:
❄️ Water (Optional: watering with seaweed will help with cold tolerance)
❄️ Cover tender plants with around 4 inches of mulch (Tender is: Zone 8a+... banana trees, oleander, lantana, fig trees, etc)
❄️ Use a frost cloth (available at the store) or old sheet to cover beds and tender plants (Agaves! Also might be a good idea to use if you just planted onions, or even on your beds of pansies)
❄️ Bring potted plants into your garage as their roots are more susceptible to the cold
❄️ Wrap palms with burlap and Christmas lights
❄️🚨🥶
It looks like one of those extreme weather events that happens every few years. Please call us 940-382-2638 with any specific questions. As always - our aim is to educate and help you keep your plants alive and happy 💙 Stay warm, friends!
Yes Kelsey is wearing 2 hats 😂
❤️ Super cute houseplant alert - just in time for Valentine’s Day! ❤️
We have a ton of them and they are absolutely full of blooms! 💐 Guaranteed to delight ❤️
Thank you for @supportinglocal ❤️
Nellie checking out the new mycorrhizae we just got in 🍄 If you are interested in organic & sustainable gardening - this is a product to know about
🌿🌳🪴🌱🌻🌾
Mycorrhizae boosts plant nutrient and water intake and will enhance a plant’s natural immune system
🌿🌳🪴🌱🌻🌾
And it truly is mighty - a little bit goes a long way. A one ounce bag of concentrate can make approximately 50 gallons of solution. Use this solution soak the roots of your plants before planting or water it over the root area of plants, crops, trees, and lawns.
🌿🌳🪴🌱🌻🌾
Kathleen swears by this stuff. (If you don’t know who Kat is, you don’t visit us enough!) JK 💚

LOOK OVER HERE AND SMILE FOR YOUR MAMA NELLIE 👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼
I’ve been told that I’m a pageant mom when it comes to taking pics of sweet Nell 👑
But look at that face, how could I not be?!?
