2020 has been a strange year professionally. The ride has been wild- lows coupled with incredible highs. Many know that I am now an Associate Medical School professor. Teaching and mentoring medical students has been an aspiration of mine since graduating from @mayoclinic. However, last night I joined the ranks of being an American Academy of Family Physicians faculty member as I was accepted to their National Speakers’ Bureau. Teaching fellow physicians and colleagues has been a true DREAM of mine. Maury Cty is in the RED ZONE presently with a 16.6% positive rate. Mask mandate or not, PLEASE step up and do your part. Wear a mask, wash hands often and practice social distancing. We’re about to expand the ICU AGAIN to 38 beds in order to keep up. While rest assured we have a good plan to ensure everyone is taken care of, we still REALLY need you to do your part as well. Including, attending to any chronic illness you may have and remembering also to PLEASE keep healthcare professionals in your thoughts and prayers. We are running a marathon right now with no end in sight.

#covidvacccine update- Facial flushing began at around 10 minutes after vaccination and lasted for about an hour. I then put away ALL of our Christmas decorations and finished errands. I probably yawned 22 times during hour #3 but no real fatigue. Facial flushing returned at hour 10 post-vaccination with minor arm soreness but nothing else! Because I had #covid_19 in July, I anticipated a robust response to the vaccine (since my body had seen the protein before). So far this is all I have! I emailed on the 23rd in the evening and received an email right back asking if I was able to meet her at the office the next morning. This caring physician came in to the office to meet me and care for my needs. What a wonderful, caring medical doctor.
