Memorial's neighborhood health care centers offer a wide range of services for teens through the older adult years. The Centers are managed by a team of nurse practitioners through a collaborative agreement with a board certified primary care physician.
The nurse practitioners diagnose common illnesses, prescribe medications, and refer patients to specialists. They order lab tests and x-rays, conduct physical exams, and give advice on how to prevent disease. The nurse practitioners serve as an extension of the physician's practice. A physician also sees patients at Memorial's Health Care Center and is available to the nurse practitioners for consultation.
Patients requiring hospitalization are admitted to Memorial Hospital or Memorial Hospital Hixson under the care of physicians in Memorial's Hospitalist Program.
As part of Memorial's commitment to help people improve all aspects of their health-mental, physical and spiritual-the Centers emphasize preventive care, education and early detection. They also work with other agencies in the community to offer comprehensive care.
