Tailored Brands, the parent company of Men's Wearhouse and Jos A. Bank is proud to reduce our environmental impact by donating 80 functional sewing machines to Materials for the Arts, who in turn provided 20 sewing machines to support Queens Museum's Hecho Local program, a local Queens program supporting Spanish-speaking immigrant communities that create and sell artisan goods for additional income!
Materials for the Arts
March 4 at 11:19 AM ·
Yesterday Mayor Bill de Blasio visited Queens Museum, which has developed a program that supports immigrant artisans called Hecho Local. Geared to support Spanish speaking immigrant communities in Queens, participants learn how to build on their craft and develop a new product line for income. Clothing, bags, jewelry, and face masks developed from this program will be on sale at the Queens Museum gift shop.
Materials for the Arts was proud to provide 20 industrial sewing machines for Hecho Local program participants. We would like to thank Tailored Brands, the parent company of Men's Wearhouse and Jos. A. Bank, which donated the machines to MFTA.
In addition to the Hecho Local program, the Queens Museum has developed a food pantry, which will support up to 1,000 families weekly.
