Flu shots can prevent you from getting sick and help protect those who are unable to get a flu shot due to health conditions. It is possible to have COVID-19 and the flu at the same time. Both are contagious respiratory illnesses and can lead to hospitalization or death. We encourage you to get a flu shot to protect yourself and others. Help us take influenza out of the equation.

Does Someone in Your Home Have COVID-19? Here’s What to Do
The Wyoming National Guard has arrived at CRMC! Guard members will be assisting with activities such as delivering meals and other activities to alleviate some of the duties of our medical staff. Assistance with non-medical tasks helps hospitals focus medical resources on tasks where they can have the most impact.
Cheyenne Regional set a record for COVID+ patients today with 63 cases. The Wyoming National Guard and Health and Medical Task Force (HMTF) team from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Disaster Medical System are a welcomed presence to help us during this time.
Welcome all!

To address the surge of COVID-19, Governor Gordon has authorized additional support to some Wyoming medical facilities. That support is beginning to arrive at Cheyenne Regional! Members of the Health and Medical Task Force (HMTF) team from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Disaster Medical System arrived this morning, and will be at CRMC for approximately 14 days.
We are so very thankful for their additional support. Please help me give a warm welcome to our new team members.

Cheyenne Regional’s marketing director, Hillary Hardy, recently interviewed Nicki, an RN and charge nurse on 3-2, one of the CRMC medical units that is now entirely dedicated to caring for patients with COVID-19.
During the interview, Hillary noticed that while Nicki was smiling and pleasant, something seemed a little “off.”
“I know Nicki very well,” Hillary said. “Normally she is bubbly and very upbeat, but as the interview went on, I could tell from her comments and reactions that this pandemic has taken a heavy toll on her bright spirit. Towards the end I asked what the long-term impacts might be on her and others who have been working on the front lines of the pandemic for so long. Her response was heart-wrenching and brought both of us to tears. Healthcare personnel often put on a ‘brave face’ to protect others so I really appreciate Nicki’s transparency and the courage it took for her to share her deepest feelings with me and our social media followers. My heartfelt thanks go out to Nicki and our entire team of nurses, doctors, therapists as well as our facilities, environmental services, food and nutrition personnel … and everyone who is working so hard to care for our community and our patients here at Cheyenne Regional. You are all heroes!”

Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department is sharing a COVID-19 Update.
January 15 at 4:18 PM ·
Laramie County is currently working on Phase 1B of the WDH priority groups. Most local providers will be focusing on the 70+ population under sub-group 3 of phase 1B. The target population of each provider is bolded underneath their address.
As more local providers are approved, this list will be updated with their information.
At this time, walk-ins will not be accepted at any of the providers due to logistical considerations with the amount of doses in each vial. Laramie County is committed to ensuring that each dose of opened vaccine is administered.
So far, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center has administered about 2,000 doses of the vaccine, 450 of those being second doses. #COVID19

Being kind to someone doesn’t take much at all—just seconds, in some cases—but those few seconds have the power to completely change someone’s entire outlook. Even better? Those small acts of kindness—or “sparks”—are changing our
community for good.
It is still possible to be kind even in the virtual and social-distancing world we are currently living in and kindness is more important now than ever!

For our final interview from #CardiacRehabWeek, we have Mike C., 69 years old.
What is your diagnosis and how did you feel when you were first diagnosed?
I was diagnosed with the “Widow Maker”(blockage in the left main artery) and a heart attack with 2 stents. My first thought was how fortunate I was to be close to medical care and a cath lab.
How long have you been in Cardiac Rehab?
Almost 2 years
What do you appreciate about the program?
The staff. They are professional, knowledgeable about all things heart-related, diet, and exercise.
Why did you start and why do you continue? Why would you encourage others to participate after a heart event?
I wanted to learn more about life after a heart attack – what I can do and what I shouldn’t. I always encourage others to participate through Mended Hearts, as I became a volunteer to visit heart patients through Mended Hearts.
We asked Mike Y., age 72, a few questions about his experience with our Cardiac Rehab Department. Mike had a heart attack on September 11, 2015, along with 4-way bypass surgery.
What is your diagnosis and how did you feel when you were first diagnosed?
Mike: I was completely surprised and stunned by the news when I was first diagnosed.
How long have you been in Cardiac Rehab?
Mike: 5 years
What do you appreciate about the program?
Mike: The professional staff, the friendly and fun experience and the ability to build up from each phase.
Why did you start and why do you continue? Why would you encourage others to participate after a heart event?
Mike: It was a strong recommendation from my surgeon and other medical staff at CRMC. I would encourage others to absolutely participate and stay committed to the process – it pays dividends physically AND mentally because of the good social interaction in the classes.
