Happy National Good Neighbor Day! One way you can show some love for your neighbors is by protecting them from COVID-19. Remember, you can slow the spread of COVID-19 in your community by wearing a face mask, practicing social distancing and washing your hands!
Our staff at the Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Oxygen Center in the East Valley are rolling up their scrubs and showing off their “white socks” to raise awareness of peripheral artery disease (PAD). People with diabetes are at a higher risk of developing PAD, a condition that causes reduced blood flow to the limbs and can lead to amputations. In support of the #WhiteSockCampaign during #PADAwarenessMonth, we encourage patients to seek early vascular and wound healing care in an effort to prevent amputations.

This October, we encourage you to join us in recognizing National Liver Awareness Month by acting early to prevent liver disease. Nearly 39,000 Americans are diagnosed with liver cancer each year. Liver cirrhosis, a late stage of chronic liver disease, is known to lead to liver cancer in some patients. Risk factors leading to cirrhosis can include chronic viral hepatitis, obesity, alcoholism, and certain inherited genetic disorders. Prevention and early detection are key for successful outcomes. Learn more at: https://www.dignityhealth.org/arizona/liver-cancer.
Chaplain Thomas Arbaugh has a special appreciation for our health care heroes. He severs alongside them at Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert and Chandler Regional Medical Centers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he’s been in awe as the medical teams continue to provide exceptional care to patients while acting as surrogate family members with compassion and grace.
In an effort to give back to the medical professionals who are giving their all, Chaplain Thomas will be participating in this weekend’s Heroes in Health Care virtual fundraiser. It’s #WorldFoodDay and we want to give a big shout out to our amazing hospital nutrition teams! Thank you for providing healthy meals to our patients and staff. 🧡
🧼🖐️🚿 We know. We know. You already know how to wash your hands, right?
But on this Global #HandwashingDay, we remind you that it takes more than simply soap and water. Experts say that we need to scrub our hands for at least 20 seconds (the amount of time it takes to hum your ABCs twice) to keep from getting sick.
Many of the steps you take to slow the spread of COVID-19 can also help protect you from other respiratory illnesses, like the flu! Help keep yourself and others healthy this flu season by getting your flu shot, and continuing to wear a mask, keep your hands clean and practice social distancing. #MaskUp #LatherUp #SleeveUp
In recognition of Lung Cancer Awareness Month this November, we want to remind you a lung cancer screening could save your life, or the life of someone you love. If you or a loved one has a history of heavy smoking, please visit https://dignityhlth.org/2TXDpGS to learn more.

IT’S OFFICIAL: We are excited to announce that Dignity Health and Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC) have formed an affiliation.
Dignity Health in Arizona and YRMC share a special piece of history dating back to a time before Arizona was even a state. In the 1890s, the Sisters of Mercy not only opened the first hospital in Phoenix - our own Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center - they also founded the very first hospital in Prescott! While the health care landscapes have drastically grown over time in both areas, the commitment to creating healthier communities has not wavered. This partnership allows our organizations to further the Sisters’ mission of providing compassionate and expert health care to all Arizonans.
