Hi All.
I opened a Physical Therapy clinic in Annandale, VA back in June and I finally finished my website and facebook page. Take a look and give me the thumbs up if you like it.
Please pass the word along to all your friends and keep me in mind if you have any aches and pains that need a little attention.

February is American Heart Month. Did you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death among both men and women in the US. One way to prevent heart disease is to get up and start moving. The American Heart Association recommends doing moderate exercise 30 min a day, 5 days a week. However, any exercise is better than no exercise. So don't worry about numbers or type of exercise, just get up and get going.
My goal as the owner of Merk PT is to provide quality PT in a comfortable atmosphere. I want every patient to get better as quickly as possible.
Come to Merk PT for 3 reasons:
1. Our PTs are experienced and have been treating patients for over 7 years. Some of us even longer than that.
2. We schedule patients in 45 min time slots - not 30 min like most clinics. This gives us more time to treat your injury.
3. Get treated by a PT not an aide or assistant.
Give Merk PT a try and I'm positive you will get the care you deserve and the results you want.

Heat vs Ice?? Which should you use?
How many times have you wondered if you should put ice or heat on an injury? The only real rule is that you don't want to use heat on a swollen area because it will increase the swelling.
Here are a few general rules to help you make a decision:
1. Use heat on your neck, back or with chronic problems
2. Use ice on shoulders, elbows, hands, hips, knees, ankles, feet and for acute injuries.
The most important thing to remember is that you should use what you like better and what works best for you. I often recommend for a patient to try both and use what makes them feel better. Isn't that the ultimate goal - to make us feel better??
