This week’s dirty word of the week is DULL: You can bring a new shine to dull wood and non-wood floors by waxing. Just choose a product that’s formulated for the surface you want to wax (as always, do a spot test), follow the manufacturer’s application directions, then buff as needed.

Once you start noticing window tracks and baseboards, you’ll never NOT notice them. Dusting baseboards with a microfiber cloth should do the trick. For window (and shower door) tracks, you can use an old toothbrush and some vinegar.
While you’re cleaning your ceiling fan, don’t forget to look around the tops of the walls and the ceilings for cobwebs that need clearing.
When you’re vacuuming, use the hose attachment to suck up anything that’s slipped between the sofa cushions. Make sure to check carefully first for stray crayons, loose change and other canister-cloggers.
