A Merry Maids Christmas
‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all thru the office,
Every creature was stirring, even my spouse!
The vacuums were hung in their lockers with care
The Hoovers and rag bags also were there.
The maids were nestled all snug out back,
While visions of holiday tips danced in their heads.
And Lily at her desk, and I at mine too,
Had just settled down for a fresh coffee brew.
When out in the office there arose such a clatter,
A customer calling telling us what was the matter.
Away to the door I flew like a flash,
Tore open the sponges and yelled “We need to dash!”
And what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a miniature sleigh all full of our gear.
With a little old driver, holding a rope
I knew in a minute it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles, my maids they came,
He whistled and shouted and called them by name.
“Now Emily, now Kyle, now Jacob, and Keesha,
Now Nika, now Cleo, now Gene, and Cassandra” -
To the top of the steps, to the top of the hall,
Now dust away, vac away, wash away all!
So all thru the house, the maids they flew,
With bags of attachments and cobwebbers too.
And then in a twinkling, I heard in the bedroom
The humming and rumbling of each little vacuum.
As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,
Up the steps St. Nick came with a bound.
He was all dressed in green, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of rags he had flung in a sack,
And he looked like an owner just breaking his back.
He loaded the maids, he loaded their gear,
And drove to the office without any fear.
The phone rang again, as we hid out of sight
And bid a Merry Maids Christmas to all,
And to all a good night!
In the interest of keeping our employees safe during bad road conditions, Merry Maids will be closed 12/23. We will reopen for normal business hours tomorrow, 12/24.
