The state entered Phase 4 on June 26th. While more places are opening up to the public, we are discovering more activities can be conducted electronically – working remotely, court hearings and bar association meetings via Zoom & telephone conference, and other attorney/client conferences being conducted electronically whenever and wherever possible. This seems to be the future of not only legal practices and courthouses but business in general. For our clients’ benefit and convenience, we are seeing an increase in telephone consultations, and we have done a number of them via Zoom. We are now making that an official option for your office visit or phone conference for your convenience and well-being if you prefer the face-to-face that it provides along with the convenience and safety of not having to come into our office. While discussing appointments with my support staff, be sure to indicate your preference especially since electronic consultations may fit more conveniently into your schedules and will help keep all of us safe. If you still prefer an in-person consultation, at this time we must continue to require that you wear a mask while in the office unless authorized by our staff to remove it under appropriate circumstances. We will also continue to require social distancing and to encourage frequent hand-washing and use of sanitizer.
The IL Supreme Court has approved some resumption of court activity and has allowed for some additional hearings beginning June 1st. We are expecting a more specific order from Chief Judge Gilfillan in the near future. Some limited hearings may be allowed with social distancing and other safety precautions. We are expecting similar orders from the Ninth and Eleventh Circuits as well. You can call our office or specific courthouses with any questions. Stay safe and healthy!
Please bear with us while we undergo some minor cosmetic upgrades. Thank you!
