"Summer Sisters". As most of you know, much of the west coast has recently been engulfed in wildfires. Fortunately, favorable weather conditions have prevailed, assisting heroic firefighters. While my hometown of Bend doesn't have fires in the immediate vicinity, we were recently flooded with smoke from fires to the west, experiencing some of the worst air quality in the world. After the weather improved, skies cleared and Central Oregonians again enjoyed the bluebird skies that are touted by tourist organizations. I was overjoyed! I vowed to never be underwhelmed by a clear blue sky. I like to celebrate the simple beauty of blue skies by sharing this new Greeting Card of Oregon's Three Sisters Mountains that I'm excited to release. Please join me in sharing your best wishes with those whose lives have been devastated by Oregon's wildfires and with the wild land firefighters who are battling to save the beautiful places in this amazing state.
Part of why I love summer in Bend, Oregon. My backyard.
FB Friends, Please join me tonight from 5-8PM at Patagonia@ Bend( 1000 NW Wall Street) during the First Friday Art Walk! I'll be showing this stunning print of Oregon's Mt Jefferson, my newest print of Tumalo Falls and many more. I hope to see you there!
"Zen Pool" This beautiful little pool is located on Oregon's North Santiam River. My intention on this day was to capture a sweeping scene of the North Santiam River and its wonderfully tinted waters with a hint of fall color. I had a distinct composition in mind but I was repeatedly hindered by autumn rainfall which helps characterize this beautiful corner of Oregon. Frustrated by the unrelenting rains, I cleared my mind by exploring the area. I was astounded. The intimate textures of the nearby rock formations were wonderful. The heavy rains gave the rock a blueish tint and released the wonderful aroma of decaying organic debris. As the rains began to relent, I was drawn back to this beautiful Zen Pool. As the surrounding rock began to dry, a color gradient developed between the wet and dry rock which accentuated the peaceful rocks submerged in the pool. The gentle burble of the small waterfall at the head of the pool added a serene background noise to this enchanting scene. "Chimney Rock" Another new fine art print from my recent adventure in Southern Colorado. The aspen Groves were absolutely at their prime and the scenery might have been even better. I was stunned! Chimney Rock and the adjacent Courthouse Mountain served as the backdrop for the shoot-out scene in the 1969 John Wayne Movie,True Grit. "Colorado Kaleidoscope" I just returned from a long road-trip I took with a long time friend. Our timing for fall color in Colorado's San Juan Mountains was impeccable. I had no idea how good the fall color could be in southern Colorado. Huge groves of aspen trees, scrub oaks, and choke cherry made for an exceptional array of colors. The Rocky Mountains as a backdrop wasn't bad either! Please share with your friends and comment below if you enjoy my newest work!
Vote, everybody!
"Beachhenge" Ancient sea stacks are awakend by mornings first light, Bandon Beach, Oregon Coast. I recently returned from a quick trip to one of my favorite beach towns in the world. I had visualized this scene during a previous trip to Bandon. Walking amongst those beautiful sea stacks is a rejuvenating experience that will never grow tiresome.
