As a Certified Life Coach (CLC), mindfulness, holistic values and balance are defining concepts in my practice. I strive to bring humor, incisiveness and powerful questions to my work. I believe in true compassion mixed with tough challenges. In short, I make a commitment to you until "our" work is completed.
I am also a certificated teacher in my home country of Ireland, in Great Britain and in the US. I earned my BA and Professional Teacher Qualifications at University College Dublin, my MA at London Metropolitan University, and Management Training at Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow. In addition, I have Counseling and Group Work Certifications from the Royal Society of Arts in London.
I have spent most of professional life lecturing and teaching at college, university and secondary school. I worked as a guidance counselor for three years. I have been practicing mindfulness for eight years and have undergone initial and MBSR trainings with UW in Seattle and Curriculum training with Mindful Schools.
Working with individuals and groups is a privilege and brings me great joy and fulfillment, as well as gratitude for the new insights and wisdom I receive from my clients. I believe that community, creativity and spirituality support health and joy. Life is not about suffering. Changing our thinking and beliefs can bring about tranformation. The brain can literally be changed by introducing new ways of thinking, new practices and new habits (See Blog).
I have coached individuals from 12 years to 80 and worked with couples. I have coached around transitions, relationships, challenges specific to the management role, family issues, job change, starting a new business, relocating, parenting, teaching, career planning, building routines, health issues, stress, returning to education, study and conflict.
I have worked with community, voluntary and non-profit agencies to facilitate collaboration, the creation of vision statements, mission statements and action plans. I provided organization and management development classes to middle managers in higher education for three years. Managers were able to bring real case studies to the group and we were able to combine management and organizational theory with common sense and experience to generate solutions.
