REPOST! ANOTHER EXCELLENT POST WORTH READING! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2781173225534437&id=1500250326960073 Nanohydr8 December 16 at 12:53 AM · What are the Benefits of Fasting? This might seem a little gross, but we all share our bodies with trillions of bacteria, fungus, protozoa and viruses. All these critters are called our Microbiome. The microbiome is the genetic material of all the microbes that live on and inside the human body. The number of genes in all the microbes in our microbiome is 200 times the number of genes in the human genome. Our microbiome can weigh as much as five pounds. How we eat has a huge effect on these beneficial bacteria that live with us. There are trillions of microorganisms that live in our intestines, helping to break down our food and make nutrients, like B vitamins and vitamin K. When these organisms digest dietary fiber, they create substances that are crucial to muscle function and disease prevention. These bugs even affect our emotions and our ability to learn and remember. Keeping as many of the good bugs and eliminating the bad ones plays a huge role in our overall health. Fasting can greatly improve the health of our microbiome. Fasting is a practice that is thousands of years old. It is a part of many cultures and religions. Fasting is abstaining from food and or drinks for a set period of time. Effective fasting can be as short as 12 hours, and up to as long as 72 hours. Fasting has been shown to have numerous health benefits, from increased weight loss to better brain function. Our microbiome is very responsive to fasting. Here are a few benefits that studies have confirmed about fasting: -It can greatly increase good bacteria in our gut. -It improves blood sugar control, which could be especially useful for those at risk of diabetes. -It decreases levels of chronic inflammation. -It is one of the most effective ways to reduce our risk of heart disease. -It could have a powerful effect on brain health. -It can be part of an effective weight loss program. -It naturally increases HGH levels. These are key hormones involved in growth, metabolism, weight loss and muscle strength. -It may delay signs of aging and increase longevity. Make sure you do a little research before doing anything extreme, but I can tell you from personal experience that an 18 hour “water only” fast isn't that hard and it has been shown to give many of the benefits that I listed above. Start with something easy, and start with a water fast, and only try longer, more extreme fasts after you have done plenty of research and spoken to your doctor. Good luck! This is an excellent post! So here's a repost https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2780358675615892&id=1500250326960073 Nanohydr8 December 15 at 12:24 AM · What do you need to eat more of to lose fat and be more fit? I get asked every day; “What is the best way to lose fat?” I tell them the same thing every time. The best way to lose fat is to focus on increasing protein intake throughout the the day and cut out sugary snacks. Because it’s many people’s nature to find a reason not to do something that might be hard, they tell me that they hear that it's dangerous to eat “so much protein.” It has only been shown to be dangerous to eat extreme amounts of protein if you have a history of kidney disease. First of all, the amount of protein I recommend isn't extreme. I recommend .7 to 1 gram of protein per pound of desired body weight per day. Protein has numerous other benefits other than keeping you from storing bodyfat through spikes in insulin levels. Protein keeps your bones and muscles strong, and repairs muscles after workouts. Protein is essential to building new muscle, which is the best way to increase your metabolism and burn more fat even while at rest. It also makes you feel more full, so you eat less. Today's simple tip is to figure out what you want your ideal weight to be, then divide that by 4 and try to have four separate meals a day with that amount of protein. As much as possible, try to get your protein from lean meats. I am kind of a slacker at cooking and I get about half my daily protein from whey protein shakes. When I snack, I try to eat roasted almonds or peanuts. This has worked very well for me and for hundreds of others that I personally know who eat like this. This is just a suggestion, but if you aren't a vegan, (which is only 3% of you) this is a proven way to eat plenty of food while still burning fat and build a strong, healthy, body and mind! Give it a try! Make sure you get in some good strength training 3 to 4 times a week as well. Take a Nanohydr8 before your workouts and the results will be even better!
