Covid is still in effect but it’s time to move forward. Happy Makeover Monday!! Moving into a new condo and making it feel like home should not be difficult. I took client drapes from family home and repurposed with help from my cherished world kroon to make them fit the new windows. They offered a soft look and absolute privacy from neighbors. Absolute win win and made client very happy!
Happy Makeover Monday!! It is so rewarding as a designer to be able to take a dated space - in this case a master bath in a master bedroom suite - and update it for not only better functionality but much prettier. We re worked the massive real estate of the built in tub and made it freestanding and replaced the dated shower with a better space, frameless design, a bench and niches for product. AND the space looks so much bigger because it is lighter. New floor and lighting rounded out the renovation. Both husband and wife are so happy for their beautiful and better functioning ironing bath!!

Happy Makeover Monday! Sometimes with new construction in a villa condo the smallest details make all of the difference! Great cabinet space and good granite countertops but the sprinkles on the icing on the cupcake is the backsplash. Got a bit of the clients personality in to a great kitchen layout. Clients were jazzed and the look - and function is super!

Happy Makeover Monday!! Re-imagining a kitchen for clients takes their time, wants and needs into consideration. In this case The kitchen footprint was large but the work ‘triangle’ was tight. I spread out the ‘work’ zones so cooking, prep and refrigeration made much more sense. The lighting was updated in the ceiling and cabinets. Look at the new ceiling lighting!
The cabinetry included soft close drawers and doors and new backsplash updated the look. Clients now have a very functional yet elegant look and function.

Happy Makeover Monday! Clients always want to know ‘how many bathtubs’ they need in their homes. Realtors and experts always have the right answers. In this case the lower level full bath did get use from guests but was dated. We decided to trade in the tub for a new long shower using the exact footprint. Adjascent to the full bath was a guest bedroom so this change made the bathroom much more efficient. New tile, shower doors, lighting and a new countertop and faucet and mirror freshened up and contemporized the room. Guests now have an efficient but great looking bath and the homeowners are thrilled with the changes.

Happy Makeover Monday Thank You edition. This week I would like to thank Chesapeake Tile in Owings Mills MD for their spectacular attention to detail. Happy Makeover Monday!! Who says tile is just for floors?? In this case we wanted a strong focal wall for a bedroom and since the window was so pretty the tile balanced out the space - especially with the medium blue on the other walls. Not a ton of money but a boatload of impact!

This upstairs main bathroom was in terrible condition. The clients were using it but with the plastic up in the shower because the tub LEAKED!! Out went well everything. New double vanity with new lighting, new flooring, new tub/shower insert and custom tile AND a separate shower light. All on dimmers. The room was used by the family so all of the changes made sense to not only function but a smart and sleek aesthetic.

I just have to give a shout out to the best appliance guy ever! Ken does my client work and my own and there is not a problem he cannot fix. He is familiar with all appliances and he is a great customer service person. As they say’ credit where credit is due’ Ken gets ALL of the credit. He is a gem!!
Happy Makeover Monday!! Again- be it residential or commercial design - each project gets my full attention. This little strip plaza was rundown and had space for lease. A makeover certainly assisted the developer with re-renting and freshening up the property. New stone and windows/doors gave it a fresh look and to save $$ we PAINTED the metal roof with Sherwin Williams metal exterior specific paint. The developer was very pleased with the result and now has good tenants and a super crisp looking plaza.

Happy-makeover Monday!! Kitchen renovation. This kitchen was the heart of the home. And it had a big footprint but not what the clients could use. I kept the footprint pretty much the same BUT gave the clients designated work spaces. Cooking/prep and wet areas. Cabinets were updated and lighting - task/under cabinet/ceiling lighting gave a much better solution. New countertops and accent tile at the new range gave a focal point to the new kiln. It was a total win win for the clients.
Happy Makeover Monday! Huge dead space above a two car garage was well dead space. By it was right off the master bedroom. Kim - do you think we could turn it into a master closet! Of course we can!!! Genius contractor Ken Pine and I moved heating/AC into the space and great recessed lighting. The client had very specific requests and many hours were spent going over layouts and areas for clothing and especially shoes but the outcome was a win win. Custom carpeting and sound proofing in the walls made a great improvement not only to the house but to the clients needs as well.

Happy Makeover Monday! This is a great example of incorporating new solutions into an existing space. Clients came to me to look at their island (which they said was ‘useless’) and wanted ideas on how to incorporate a new island into the existing space. The perimeter cabinets had to stay due to budget. So I designed a new island with more storage space but kept the downdraft range in the costing space. We painted the coffee bar cabinets the same blue and splurged on a custom quartz countertop and waterfall sides/new sink/new faucet and a tile backsplash. I changed the yellow walls for matching dark blue ones and the kitchen instantly updated from farm to contemporary and sophisticated. My clients could not believe the change! I kept the remodel on a tight budget but gave the clients value improvements!!

A great commercial project I have just completed! This break room - for 60 employees who worked three shifts - had zero character. And for an aerospace parts company it need d a makeover. Cabinets replaced with newer and better function. New ceiling tiles 2’x 2’. I actually re-topped the table with new laminate - who does that??? But super cost saving! The counter for stools was so covered in various microwaves/toasters and toaster ovens I reworked the electric and gave them all a cabinet so more people could sit at the counter. New chairs and paint made the space more conversational. And a canvas print of what the parts go into finished the space.

Happy Makeover Monday! My commercial clients needed to update a better g conference room. So I re-imagined it from the ceiling down. New 2’x2’ ceiling tiles and lighting, new LVP flooring, new conference table with data capability installed, brand new chairs. New paint colors and canvas wall demonstrating what the manufacture all contributes to the transformation.

Coffee bar for the executives needed a makeover, the windows excuse to be bathroom got a makeover, the lobby got some new personality. From ceiling to floor the interiors were upgraded with new 2’x2’ dropped ceilings with new LED lights, new LVP flooring and all new work stations and commercial spaces brought personality to a great company. They were very happy with my vision and I gave them a space full of efficiency and personality.

Happy Makeover Monday. This dated kitchen was special 20 years ago but COVID made this space need updating. We kept the footprint the same and saved the tile floors but everything else updated. New cabinets and layout, new quartz counters and new recessed lighting and new ceiling fan gave much better use to the family. Not to mention new colors and updated appliances opened the room and made the space much more open. The clients bet me I could NOT make the green tile fit in but dammit I did. Oh and NO MORE sunflowers!

Happy Makeover Monday!! It’s funny. I did this dining room 11 years ago. And I remember quite clearly the homeowner asking me if this blue color was a good choice for the walls. When everyone was putting red dining rooms into their homes. I told her to trust me with the blue color and she LOVED it. It was ‘different’ than all of her friends homes and it was a sophisticated look. Over the last year this ‘blue’ trend has exploded both for residential AND commercial looks. Happy Makeover Monday!! Often I am asked by clients ‘what can we do with the space under the stairs’?? I have done super small but efficient powder rooms, kid forts, a kids ‘gun room’ for a Nerf collection, reading books, a wine cellar that opened
up to a great family room, and many other solutions. The best part about the design is that most of the time the door is shut so it is a super space that can have a bold statement that can be different from the rest of the main or lower floor. There are so many possibilities that the sky is the limit and with a client’s idea I can make it happen.
