Congratulations to Pearl resident Gayle Ann Charnley for being recognized by the Mayor for her unwavering support of the city through volunteer work!
Gayle moved to Pearl in 2009 and has made a true impact on her city with the personal purchase and placement of nearly 100 “In God We Trust” stickers on the vehicles of first responders, public works and citizens in over five cities in and around Pearl.
Gayle also takes pictures at every City function and at many community functions, bearing the cost herself, in addition to showing her civic pride by picking up trash around Pearl on a daily basis.
Gayle spends countless hours baking and handing out muffins and cold water to City workers and to local businesses in Pearl.
She also volunteers in her neighborhood of Lamplighter and looks out for her neighbors.

Let me introduce another HERO...Mr. Claude "Jack" Blackburn of Jackson.
Mr. Blackburn became sick in late June. After discussing his symptoms with his physician, an antibody test revealed he was positive. He contacted MBS via email on 8/13, donated convalescent plasma on 8/14 and sent an email that evening inquiring about when he can donate again. This was his first time donating with MBS.
Mr. Blackburn is O Negative and today is his 8th successful convalescent plasma donation. Also, all but one of his donations has yielded four transfusable doses of plasma.

MS Blood Services will be here at the fire department tomorrow from 12-6 accepting donations. Each successful donation will receive a $15 Visa card and that will certainly be helpful in topping off that gas tank with these fuel prices!
