Breast Friends Fund
This is Sandy Cassanelli, Warrior in the fight against metastatic breast cancer.
She is the founder of Breast Friends Fund, a non profit that was created to 100% support research and clinical trials for metastatic breast cancer at Dana Farber.
Sandy Cassanelli was initially diagnosed with Stage 3 Brest cancer at the age of 37 on May 30, 2013. She chose to have a bilateral mastectomy followed by 8 rounds of chemotherapy & 28 rounds of radiation.
In April 2015 Sandy was no longer a cancer survivor. She was told her breast cancer had spread to her liver and she is now living with stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer with no cure.
Although it is not curable, metastatic breast cancer can be treated. And with the right treatment women can live well for many years.

During the start of the COVID-19 lockdown the Glastonbury Police Department worked with the CT Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) regional distribution system, which was the agency local small businesses could request PPE from. Municipalities would then handle the weekly transportation and distribution of these items when they were available. During that time GPD reached out to several businesses and local organizations to look for help in distributing the PPE.
When asked, Chrissy Monaco Monaco Ford immediately said she and her team would help. Over the course of a few months, PPE was delivered to them weekly and the took care of distributing it to local businesses.
Due to their outstanding and exemplary actions, rising up without hesitation to fulfill an important need within the Glastonbury community during a time of crisis, Chrissy Monaco and her team at Monaco Ford were awarded the Glastonbury Police Department Community Excellence Award. Chief Porter presented Chrissy and Mike Monaco the award today 12/10/20.

Today, with the education-focused mission, the CCEA will continue to play a powerful role in the area. The CCEA will generate and distribute resources to community educational organizations, while providing programming to make a real difference in the lives of children.
