Dr. Monica El-Masry is a hematologist and medical oncologist who practices in Porter Ranch, where she enrolls patients in UCLA Health's full scope of clinical trials. She has a particular interest in benign and malignant hematology, genitourinary malignancies, and cancer prevention.
Dr. El-Masry treats every patient as her own family member, and is considerate of each patient's work and cultural differences and needs. She is an avid proponent of integrative oncology, and of incorporating psychosocial support, nutrition counseling, genetic counseling and lifestyle modifications, such as exercise and healthy eating habits, into her patient's treatment plans. She regularly combines these therapies with conventional treatments to provide a personalized and holistic approach to cancer care.
Dr. El-Masry is a southern California native, who is delighted to serve her community. She earned her bachelor's degree in Psychobiology from UCLA, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors. She received her medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and completed her hematology and oncology fellowship at the prestigious Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UC Irvine School of Medicine.
Prior to completing her fellowship and joining UCLA, Dr. El-Masry worked as an urgent care physician at HealthCare Partners in Pasadena and was among Pasadena's Top Doctors in 2013 and 2014. She also worked as a hospitalist and primary care physician at Kaiser Permanente in Woodland Hills. In additional to her current work with patients, she is also a clinical instructor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and is very involved in resident and fellow education.
Dr. El-Masry is on staff at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, and the West Los Angeles VA medical center. She looks forward to providing excellent care to each and every one of her patients.
