Monmouth Day Care Center is seeking a family worker to work in our preschool expansion program that we partner with the Red Bank Board of Education for. This is a 10 month position. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8am- 1pm. (Wednesday may be added at a later date)
Rationale: Supportive partnerships around the child provide the type of environment in which families, schools, and the community work together to achieve and sustain shared goals for children. On-going communication and interaction encourages appropriate and effective learning opportunities for children. A well-defined plan will incorporate a wide range of family involvement and educational opportunities into the preschool program. With systematic coordination between home and school, we can more meaningfully support all aspects of the child’s life. If educators and families work together, children have a greater chance of reaching their maximum potential.
Job Description – Responsibilities:
Family worker will coordinate center-wide family involvement activities in conjunction with the executive director. (a minimum of 3/year- at present time virtual)
Family worker will coordinate meetings and workshops designed to accommodate the individual languages and cultures of the families in the community (at present time virtual).
Family worker adheres to a flexible schedule to make her-himself available for family-teacher conferences.
Family worker maintains accurate and timely written communication related to the child and presents in the home language as necessary.
Family worker solicits information about the children and solicits feedback about the program at school entry and throughout the year.
Family worker maintains accurate and timely records on parent/family teacher conference schedule/records.
Family worker maintains accurate and timely teacher log of family contacts.
Family worker actively participates in the recruitment and registration/enrollment of new students.
Family worker maintains accurate and timely logs of family contacts.
Family worker designs a written system in place for families to request the services of family workers as needed.
Family worker participates actively in monitoring student daily attendance.
Family worker assists the parents/families with needs they may have.
Family worker will assist in the classroom on an as needed basis.
Family worker will be responsible for maintaining the files of the children.
Appropriate candidate must be fluent in Spanish have a BA or AA in a social service field.
