Let's give a hand to our first responders! 👏 The Montrose Mirror September 29 at 10:49 PM · MMH news release- Fall Clinics Recognizes First Responders as Local Heroes Photo caption: (From left to right) Fire Chief Tad Rowan, Montrose Fire Protection District, Undersheriff George Jackson, and Montrose Police Dept. Chief Blaine Hall. MONTROSE, CO – In recognition of their service to our community, Fire Chief Tad Rowan, Montrose County Sheriff Gene Lillard (represented by Undersheriff George Jackson), and Montrose Police Dept. Chief Blaine Hall accepted an award from the Fall Clinics Committee on behalf of all first responders. The award, given last Friday at the Fall Clinics event, recognizes first responders for their willingness to put themselves at risk to help others. With the emergence of COVID-19 in the community, the committee determined first responders were the appropriate awardees given their dedication to their community through selfless acts. According to the Fall Clinics Committee, the annual award “honors individuals in our community who provide outstanding service to the Hospital and/or community.” Last year’s award went to Ken Jenks, a retired physician assistant who practiced for more than 15 years at the Basin Clinic in Naturita. The Fall Clinics is an annual educational conference for medical professionals, attracting providers both local and out of state. Topics for this year’s event included presentations on medical marijuana, sleep apnea, structural heart disease, and various other clinical topics. In order to allow for social distancing, the number of in-person attendees were limited. Certain sessions were available online to help improve access for those who could not be at the event in person. The Fall Clinics event strives to improve physician competence and performance, patient outcomes, and personal and population health in the community. News for our Friends & Family regarding COVID-19 Vaccinations: Montrose County Public Health January 29 at 9:47 PM · ‼ The Governor introduced new vaccine distribution phases today. ✅We are currently in what is now called Phase 1B.1. We will continue to vaccinate those who are 70+, health care workers, and first responders. ✅We are beginning to work on information for those who were added to Phase 1B.2 effective 2/8/21. We will provide additional information on that next week. ✅We have very limited supply of vaccine, and thousands of Montrose County residents age 70 and older on our waitlist.
