Eight new TV’s were installed at a Snohomish County PUD office yesterday as their main displays for power outage monitoring. Thanks to our install techs for another job well done!
We just finished a two year phased installation at Legends Casino Hotel to create a state of the art 1,800 seat event space for touring concerts and other live events. We designed and installed the audio, video, lighting, staging, drapery, acoustical systems, and control systems to transform what once was a generic meeting space into a brilliant new entertainment facility. The space is completely equipped with the latest products from JBL, DigiCo, Shure, Whirlwind, MA Lighting, and Elation Lighting to support every need of touring musical acts, comedians, and business groups. We’re grateful to have partnered with Legends Casino on this installation and look forward to concerts and events returning in the future. Special thanks to the team at Legends and to the Yakama Nation for being such great hosts as we completed this work! #legendscasinohotel #JBLPro #eventproduction
Hillside Evangelical Free Church made the jump from the world of analog to digital yesterday with our installation of their new Allen & Heath SQ5 console and DX168 stage box. We spent the afternoon with them over on Whidbey Island patching in the console, setting it up how they liked, troubleshooting some livestream issues that came up, and then doing a console overview training session for their whole A/V team. Many thanks to everyone over at Hillside! #allenandheathsq5 #churchsound
We recently finished working at North Sound Church doing another livestreaming integration. We installed two Sony SRG300SE cameras and one Marshall CV420-30X-IP camera. For camera operation, we installed a Marshall VS-PTC-IP PTZ Camera Controller. Blackmagic Design’s ATEM Mini Pro was chosen for their new switcher. Thanks to everyone at North Sound and to our installation team!
#ThrowbackThursday with our production department to 2009 when we provided the PA for 3 Doors Down at the Toyota Center
We now have a console comparison showcase set up in our store. One of the consoles in the mix is the Avid Venue S6L-24C. A little under a year ago now, we got two S6Ls to add current, tour-level consoles to our inventory. Their extreme processing power and high sound clarity are some of the top benefits of this board. The integration of WAVES plug-ins and ProTools multi-tracks is also incredibly simple. Set up next to the S6L is a Yamaha CL5, ready right now for AB testing. An Allen & Heath Avantis, a DiGiCo SD12, and a Yamaha QL5 will be added to the mix for comparative testing in the coming weeks. If you’re considering investing in a new console, or if you miss being able to work on a board, swing by our shop and check out all the consoles set up.
Did you know that we are an authorized speaker and electronic repair center for brands such as Fender, Yamaha, and Shure? We can handle your warranty repairs for gear from those companies plus many other manufacturers. If you have broken speakers or other audio electronics in need of repair, swing by our store or give us a call. We'd be happy to help you out! 🧰 🛠 (Disclaimer: No hammers 🔨 will be involved in the repair of your delicate electronics)
Waves V12 plugin update went live this past weekend, which is good news if you, like us, have lots of Waves plugins. The updates add more flexibility to working with Waves in a DAW, including the ability to resize the plugin view window and having an accelerated search engine that allows you to audition them before selection. Plus, the graphics are now sharper and compatible with Mac's retina displays. Select premium bundle owners also get three new free plugins. If your licenses are covered with the Waves Update Plan, you can update them immediately. WAVES.COM Introducing Waves V12 – Resize Plugins. Find Presets Instantly | Waves
For this installation at Northshore Community Church, we put a sound masking system from Cambridge Sound Management into their office space. Sound masking minimizes how far audible speech reaches in open plan offices by adding a quiet, unobtrusive sound to the background. Unlike white noise, the masking noise follows the frequencies of human speech, allowing it to blur the sound into background noise. For Northshore, we used both the Qt 100 and Qt 300 systems to cover the space. This is an integrated system allowing the speakers to be used for paging and playing music as well as noise masking.
We recently installed acoustic ceiling panels in Venture Church’s foyer to help reduce echoes and improve intelligibility in this predominantly concrete space. Thank you to the team at Venture Church and to our install technicians for all your hard work.

#ThrowbackThursday to the Dalai Lama’s Seeds of Compassion events at the University of Washington in 2008. During this five-day event, the Dalai Lama spoke about the importance of nurturing compassion and kindness through cultivating inner strength and increasing contemplation. The gig used the Yamaha PM5D for the primary console with Dugan Automixing inserted since there were so many different people on stage and speaking at these events. We had 12-boxes per side of JBL’s VerTec 4889 line array speakers for the mains. We used Lake Processing, a DPA Wireless headset system, and the Cedar DNS1000 Dialogue noise suppressor as well. A big thank you to Tim Harding (check out his FB page here! Dr. Tim) who was the systems tech on this gig, for sharing his recollections about the gear we used and what the event was like even though it was so many years ago.
This Thursday, Morgan Sound commissioned a sound system in the newly built Gymnasium of Cascade Christian Junior High. We went with JBL's AC599s and AC566s speakers to deliver clear audio to the bleacher seating area and throughout the whole gymnasium. We choose Crown CDi 1200 watt amplifiers to supply serious power to each speaker. To give the system the flexibility and reliability it needed, we installed a Blu-100 DSP from BSS. We implemented two Shure QLXD Wireless systems with the Audio Technica DFINW DISTRO4 system for dependable RF reception across the entire gym floor. Thank you to our Morgan Sound Techs and Cascade Christian Schools for another successful install!

We finished an installation at Silver Lake Water District yesterday. They wanted to improve their council chamber video conferencing system along with adding more gooseneck microphones. We installed a PTZOptics PT12X-USB PTZ camera that will be controlled by an iPad. To get audio for their video conferencing, we embedded it into the camera directly from their DSP unit. We installed a New AV3 Crestron Control System and teamed up with Status Controls for programming the control system to fit with the council chambers setup. For Silver Lake's new wireless, we selected ULXD8 wireless transmitter bases with MX410 gooseneck microphones. The wireless gooseneck microphones dock nicely into the charging station to ensure fully charged wireless every time. Thanks to everyone at Silver Lake and our install techs for another great install!

Henry stopped by for a visit with one of our techs. He seems pretty comfortable in the A/V world. Maybe we’ll have to bring him on board; he’d be the perfect tech for pulling wire in those tight spaces.
Our speaker cone tree has reemerged! Happy holidays from everyone at Morgan Sound!
We will be closed this Thursday and Friday for Christmas. We’re open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm as usual today thru Wednesday if you have any last-minute audio needs. We hope you all have a good, safe holiday!
Like last week, the store will be closed on Thursday and Friday, December 31st and January 1st, this time for New Years. Thank you.
For one of our last installs of 2020, we worked with St John Vianney down in Kirkland to update their wireless system because of the change of available frequencies. They now have Sennheiser EW 100 G4s in the open 500MHz range and an accompanying DFIN antenna. While we were updating their wireless system, we also installed a pair of DPA 4099 supercardioid condenser microphones to more fully capture the piano audio for their livestream. We also did some impromptu system tuning when the balance between the speakers was off. Thank you to St John Vianney. Thank you to our install techs for all your work and for going above and beyond to meet the clients' needs. Here's to more successful installs in 2021. Happy New Year!
#ThrowbackThursday to Holy Names Academy’s Annual Dinner and Auction in March 2012. Fun Fact: This yearly event is one of the rare places you’ll be able to find a Morgan Sound tech behind a lighting board as we supply and support all the audio, video, and lighting for this gig.
Yesterday we installed new subwoofers at Overcomer Church down in Auburn. They were rebuilding the stage in their building and wanted to move their subs underneath it. We spec'd and designed custom subwoofer bunkers providing the church with more even bass coverage across the space. They had four subs already and we installed two more, JBL’s ASB6128 Dual High Power 18” subwoofers. After we finished installing the subwoofers, we took the opportunity to clean up the amp racks while we were there. Thank you to Overcomer Church and to our install techs for another great job!
Thank you, Susan. Today, on what would have been your 75th birthday, we honor and acknowledge all the work you put into creating and building Morgan Sound into the company it has become. Your input, dedication, intelligence, and thoughtful approach to the company and its customers set the standard for the way we do business today. Your legacy will live on here as we continue to walk down the road you paved.
Cloud 10 Consulting reached out to us to support them with the Snohomish County Martin Luther King Day live streaming event. One of our techs went out today and used their video streaming installation experience to help oversee their set-up. They stayed through the gig to make sure everything went smoothly and also provided audio support.
We worked with Fluke to support two Livestream events they hosted last Tuesday. For audio, we used the Allen & Heath SQ5 digital console with Shure ULXD wireless lav mics. We used Blackmagic Design’s ATEM Mini Pro with Marshall’s CV630-IPW PTZ cameras and joystick controller for the video. We also supplied lighting resources for this Livestream, including four Chauvet Colordash Par-Hex 12 lights and Jands StageCL LED operating board. Thank you to Fluke and our techs for a successful day!
Last Wednesday, we installed two new TVs at St John the Baptist Catholic Church as part of the next phase of their livestream upgrade. The TVs will allow the congregation to see the words to the Mass during the limited Covid-19 services and reduce the number of disposable pamphlets they need to print. They will also use the TVs to show lyrics and other important information as needed.

We’re excited to tell you all that we're now offering a new service: Annual Preventative Maintenance! Instead of keeping track of everything by yourself, we’ll stand alongside you and help you keep all the gear for your audio, video, lighting, and control systems ready to go and operating at peak performance. After providing an estimate based on venue size and our familiarity with the system, one of our certified techs will come over and troubleshoot any small issues, clean out the racks, and generally make sure the system is in good working order. Afterward, we’ll give you a detailed report of our findings. If you're interested in joining our annual maintenance plan or have questions about the program, email us at info@morgansound.com or give us a call at 425-771-7257. And if you contact us to schedule before March 1st, you’ll receive 20% off labor charges for your first appointment!
Today we celebrated the birthday of Charlie Morgan, our President, Founder, and Fearless Leader. We were so excited we had to celebrate a day early. Enjoy your last day before you reach three-fourths of a century! Happy Birthday!! 🎉 🎂
Congratulations to Gary, our CFO and office manager, who’s 30th anniversary of working at Morgan Sound is today! You have been an essential part of our organization's journey and success. We greatly appreciate all the time, commitment, guidance, and hard work you’ve put into the company over these last 30 years. Thank you for being part of Morgan Sound and happy anniversary!
To enhance our livestreaming set-up, we’ve placed our order for Chauvet DJ’s Cast Panel Pack. Announced in mid-January at NAMM’s Believe in Music week, this pack provides an inexpensive self-contained lighting solution for streaming or recording video, making it our first choice. It has built-in color presets for getting a good lighting scheme quickly, but it also allows the operator to individually adjust the warm and cool LEDs for fine-tuning. The Cast Panels have a wide color temperature range from 2700K to 8000K to help get the right lighting for the video no matter the location. With a high 4kHz PWM frequency, these lights are flicker-free and won’t unintentionally hurt our clients’ livestreams. We’re looking forward to the arrival of our Cast Panel Packs and to how they will help us provide an even better streaming experience.
Earlier this month, we worked a streaming event with Fortive for their annual managers' leadership conference, held remotely this year. They brought us in because the CEO wanted to step up the production value for his segments. In addition to Fortive's CEO’s parts, we had to use some creative workarounds on-site to successfully integrate a Zoom call with the CEO of Starbucks into the main stream. In preparation for this gig, we built a portable livestream case to house all our streaming gear and also function as a desk and monitor stand during the gigs. It worked great and we’re looking forward to putting it to good use. Thank you to the team over at Fortive and to our production techs!
Thank you Steve Boyce for your 20 years of service with Morgan Sound! We want to express our gratitude and appreciation for all your efforts during your time here as you reach this milestone today. Your hard work and dedication have contributed considerably to the success of this organization over the years. Thanks again, and congratulations on your 20th work anniversary! “I first met Charlie Morgan in 1974, playing in a band together. He thought I was ok because I’d built a bi-amped bass rig. He offered me some work going out on sound gigs with him in the very early days of Morgan Sound and being young and needing income, I immediately accepted. Over time, I became Morgan Sound’s first full-time employee. We worked our butts off and certainly had some fun times while doing it! Lots of shows in Seattle as well as in Oregon and British Columbia. Working with Gordon Lightfoot, we branched out to cover the western half of the U.S., and things continued to grow from there. Eventually, I was offered a touring FOH position with a well-known pop group and left Morgan Sound. Charlie and I remained friends throughout the years. After tiring of road work, I came back to town and began my own small PA company. That led to a seven-year stint at Microsoft creating pioneering audio and audio technology. After leaving Microsoft, I ran into Charlie and Susan Morgan at the NAMM show and they told me they were looking to purchase a new JBL line array system but had no one at the company to run that division. After a number of meetings, they brought me back to Morgan Sound and we have since spent the last 20 years building, rebuilding, inventing, and reinventing what Morgan Sound is and does. I’m very fortunate to not only work in an industry I love, but also to work with long-time friends at the same time; it’s something I would wish for everyone!” - Steve Boyce, Director of Live Sound

We were at New Horizons Church yesterday outfitting their youth center with its own sound system. We hung two speakers and installed two TVs. We also repurposed some of their in-house gear to get this space the audio it needed without breaking the bank before the larger project. They’ll be using their youth center for services while they remodel their main worship center. We’ll be doing the audio install for that renovation so stay tuned for future updates!

This week we were down in the City of Buckley renovating the audio system in a multipurpose room used as the City Courthouse and the City Council Meeting Room. We installed six Nexo ID24-I rotatable speakers, two spaced at the front as mains plus two pairs on each side to evenly cover the entire space no matter the event. Nexo’s NXAMP 4x1 mk2 amplifier powers all of the speakers. We also installed a Shure wireless system with ULXD4 Digital Receivers and a charging station for all the units. For the council meetings, there are ten MX410 gooseneck microphones with wireless ULXD8 bases, and for presentations, there is the option of a wireless handheld or a belt pack with a lavalier mic. The audio is managed by a QSC control system. Thank you to the City of Buckley and to our install technicians for another great install!
