Morningside features a unique pitch and putt golf course, ideal for National Golf Lovers Day. We love to see our residents enjoying the Orange County weather while practicing their swings!
Happy National Custodian Day to a vital part of our Morningside team.
Today, we’d like to recognize Juan, a truly special member of the environmental services department. He always has a twinkle in his eye, a smile on his face, and joy in the work he does to serve our residents.
He does an amazing job cleaning Morningside’s carpets – so much so that we consistently get calls from our residents saying their carpets look brand new!
We appreciate you, Juan!
For National Neighbor Day, we are highlighting two sets of neighbors on the Morningside campus!
First, we have Catarina and Lilian, who became friends in college in 1957. Catarina and her husband moved in first, then invited Lilian over to see the community, which led to her and her husband moving in right across from them!
Next, we have Junko and Lois. These next-door neighbors moved in at the same time eight years ago. Their friendship began when Junko joined some organizations that Lois was involved in at Cal State Fullerton. They love to travel together and have visited Japan, New York, and San Francisco so far.

There are big smiles all around the community as every resident received their very own beautiful, custom Morningside puzzle to complete in the comfort of their homes.
We are still piecing together how Frances and Phyllis got these puzzles done so quickly!
It's International Dog Day! With a dog park on campus, we show our love to residents' furry companions every day. Meet our resident, Judy, and her precious pup, Bailey!
This month, we offered pinwheel flowers to Morningside residents who wished to plant their own in our garden to support the Alzheimer's fundraising campaign at the adjacent health center – Park Vista's Assisted Living Promise Garden.
Purple represents a loved one lost to Alzheimer's, while yellow represents a caregiver of someone with Alzheimer's. Blue is for someone living with memory loss and orange symbolizes a support of the cause and fight.
Which flower would you plant?
Earlier this month, we celebrated Oktoberfest by serving up some drinks and enjoying an outdoor concert. This year, we got to watch a live German band, The Bluebirds, perform for Morningside!
You can watch recordings of The Bluebirds' lively performances by visiting http://www.labluebirds.com/index.htm
What are you doing this year to celebrate Oktoberfest?
As a part of Morningside's Walk to End Alzheimer's campaign, we hosted a bocce ball competition. Donations during this competition were donated to the Alzheimer's Association.
Bocce ball lovers and Morningside staff, Richard Nordsiek and Tom Trager, competed against each other and raised a combined total of $332.
We loved watching one of our favorite games while knowing that the proceeds from fundraising are going towards a great cause!
Today, we honor our veterans at Morningside.
First, we would like to feature U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Mike Harman. He served as part of The Hawks in Vietnam in 1969. During his time as a serviceman, he was about 20 feet away when a 500-pound bomb dropped, but luckily he came out with no wounds!
Next we have Pete Wallace, who served in the U.S. Coast Guard. After a fishing trip in Venice, he became interested in boating, which then led to him driving landing crafts.
Join us in thanking all of our veterans today. Happy Veterans Day!
We love to see our residents continue their hobbies in a way that contributes to Morningside's community.
In the spirit of Halloween, take a look at the spook-tacular floral arrangement that our resident, Junko, made for us! She is a part of Morningside's Floral Committee, along with nine other residents.
Thank you Junko, this is so beautiful!
Residents and staff showed off their swings last week while competing in our Alzheimer's Fundraiser Golf Tournament. Each participant contributed a $20 donation to the Alzheimer's Association in support of this month's Alzheimer's fundraiser.
Our unique pitch and putt golf course was the perfect place to host this tournament.
Thank you to all of the participants for their support!
For National Art Day, we will be highlighting three of our resident artists!
We have Louise Shamblen, a self-taught watercolor painter whose painting was selected to be featured in the Watercolor West International Juried Exhibition.
Jackie Smith creates miniature art, inspired by recycling various materials for a doll house for her grandchildren.
Finally, we have Sylvanus Twete, who creates stained glass art and tables. He was inspired by reading about the art of stained glass and a fold-up table his wife brought from Mexico.
Which piece of art is your favorite?
We are up and moving at Morningside!
Check out our residents' moves from this morning's Zumba class.
