We applaud the Illinois Health and Hospital Association for launching the “Moving Healthy Ahead” initiative to remind everyone that hospitals have implemented many procedures and practices to keep everyone safe during the COVID pandemic. Too many people have put off important health screenings, physician visits, preventive care, surgeries and even emergency room visits. COVID doesn’t change the need to make sure disease is being treated, chronic health conditions are being managed, and preventive screenings and procedures are up to date. Please keep taking care of yourselves! #IHA #MovingHealthAhead MORRISHOSPITAL.ORG Morris Hospital, IHA Encourage Patients to Get the Healthcare They Need | morrishospital.org
We are very happy to have support persons back for inpatients, emergency and surgical patients. However, we do need to ask for everyone’s cooperation in making this a success. If you are coming to the hospital as the designated support person for a patient, please be respectful of our requirement that masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn at all times, even in a patient room. This is how we maintain a safe environment for everyone. Thank you!

Even Lily, our Emergency Department’s mascot, knows that wearing your mask on your forehead, below your nose, or under your mouth is not how you help prevent the spread of the virus. Everyone knows the mask needs to be over your nose and mouth to be effective, so why not wear it the proper way? Thank you, Lily, for this memorable demonstration!

No matter your age, we have all felt the mental stress that has weighed on us over the past 11 months during the COVID-19 pandemic. But as Dr. Jennifer Thomas points out in this radio interview on WCSJ 103.1 FM, it's extremely important for parents in particular to monitor their children for any signs of mental concerns. Dr. Thomas, a board-certified family medicine physician, is the medical director of the hospital's Integrated Care program that incorporates mental health into the primary care setting. She says the pandemic has been hard on us all mentally, but it can be especially hard on children who thrive on routine and predictability.
