MPFP added 11 new photos — in New York, New York. September 18, 2017 at 9:40 AM · New York, NY · MPFP orchestrated the master plan for this 6-acre campus transformation, from a barren rooftop to an engaging campus environment serving as the center of campus life. Facilities contributing to the final design include congregating areas for student activities, passive gardens, and athletic facilities including tennis courts, basketball courts and a jogging track. A major entrance treatment was also created at the main public entrance of the campus providing access to the Northern part of the campus and the main building. The site includes areas for dining, and other impromptu activities such as grass mounds for sunning or studying, benches for sitting or playing chess and an area programmed for the introduction of permanent and temporary sculptures.

MPFP added 12 new photos — at Billy Johnson Playground. August 31, 2016 at 1:49 PM · New York, NY · 67th Street Playground was part the Central Park Conservancy’s rehabilitation program, attempting to bring the park back to its early splendor. As Frederick L. Olmsted’s masterpiece, Central Park has been under constant pressure to furnish it with monuments, memorials, and commercial facilities since its inception. However, as the park was designed in 1850 at a time when playgrounds were unheard of, there were no facilities for children. Later in the park’s history, in the 1930’s and 1940’s, the Parks Department created a 6-foot wrought iron fenced area enclosing a slab of asphalt and furnished with 3 or 4 pieces of metal play equipment. MPFP added 4 new photos — at Flushing Meadows - Corona Park. August 17, 2016 at 11:35 AM · New York, NY · Working alongside architects Rossetti Associates, MPFP was challenged with the open space development for this $250 million, 42-acre complex which will accommodate crowds of 20-35 thousand during the two week U.S. Open event. The facility is designed to create a park-like setting, open to the public for the remaining 50 weeks of the year. The facility includes three major arenas, and new site facilities including 15 tournament-class field courts, 20 practice courts, a food court, concession areas, and a grand plaza as the forecourt for Stadium #1. The design took advantage of the existing Beaux Arts layout of Flushing Meadow Park and capitalizes upon axial arrangements created for the 1964 World’s Fair. The project required intensive interaction with numerous City agencies during the design and permitting process. Due to the presence of contaminated soils on the site, special care was taken during the design of site improvements to mitigate the creation of excess fill. All planted areas were capped with clean fill as part of the remediation measures taken.
