Fire safety tip – never microwave metal! Never put metal of any kind into your microwave. It’s easy to forget to take off the foil from your leftovers or stick your plate with your fork still on it into the microwave. However, metal will cause sparks which could lead to your microwave catching fire.
Fire Safety tip – clean out your oven. Be sure to either physically clean out the crumbs and oils from your oven or use the self-cleaning feature every 2-3 months. Over time, grease, and crumbs that build up in your oven can catch fire and also cause an unpleasant burning smell.

Fire safety tip - clean the lint trap AND clean your dryer vent – they are two separate things! Be sure to always clean the lint trap in your dryer after every load. In addition, it is a good idea to schedule a dryer vent cleaning at least once a year to remove any lint build-up throughout your machine. Also, if there is ever a burning smell coming from your dryer - do not use it!
