J.M. Smucker Company Recalls Canned Cat Food Causing Potentially Deadly Side Effects
As the state opens up again, we will continue to be here for you and your pets. Currently, in accordance with guidelines from the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, we are maintaining curbside service only. We know how much you would like to be with your pets for medical procedures, however we must keep everyone safe and minimize use of PPE, which is still needed for frontline health care workers. Several animal hospitals in the area have unfortunately had to close temporarily due to COVID infections and we also lost a wonderful avian veterinarian, Dr Sakas, to this disease. We want to do our part to stay healthy so we can continue to be here for you. Hopefully we will be meeting face to face soon! We will keep you posted as procedures change.
Happy Memorial Day and thanks to all, human and animal, that have sacrificed for us in service of our country.
Thanks so much to Bailey‘a family for The lovely flowers and treats!

While you are home during this time, enjoying time with your furry family members, keep in mind that transitioning back to work will be difficult for our pets too. If you add a puppy to your household during this time, make sure you give them some alone time in their kennel during the day. Allowing them to get used to some time apart from you now will lessen their anxiety down the road as life returns to normal.

Happy New Year from all of us at Mount Plaines. This last year has been difficult in many ways. We know many of you have of you have experienced loss. At Mount Plaines, in addition to some personal losses, we had to say goodbye to two of our furry family members, Fish and Marian, both of whom have been with us from the beginning. In the midst of grief there has also been joy. The ability to enjoy time with new puppies and kittens at home, as never before. Some for the first time are finding the happiness these fluffy bundles bring. Many shelter animals have also found homes with you, finding the kindness and love they were missing. We hope this coming year brings peace health and happiness to all.
Merry Christmas to everyone from Mount Plaines. We hope you have a wonderful holiday!
