Pathology has traditionally been a medical specialty practiced within hospital and laboratory settings. A pathologist is a medical doctor who receives training in the tissue and laboratory diagnosis of most medical and surgical specialties. Pathologists are skilled in the selection and interpretation of laboratory tests as wells as in the diagnosis of tissues removed at the time of surgery.
