Here at My Story Counseling, LLC, we believe it is important to tell your own story because everybody’s story is unique and worth sharing. In telling your story, it becomes easier to reconcile events and occurrences that had otherwise been painful or difficult to address. Although talking through past issues cannot change anything that has already happened, it can provide an avenue for you to understand and come to terms with those experiences. Additionally, it can aid in creating and utilizing skills or strategies to better cope with issues that may arise in the future. As you begin to utilize these skills and see their functionality in your daily life, you will be guided to a more fulfilled life. As a team of counselors, we have all graduated from Loyola University Chicago and have a number of years of experience. We are located in Chicago, Illinois, and specialize in a variety of areas so that we can better understand and listen to you tell your story.
As a team, our therapy services include but are not limited to LGBT counseling, addiction therapy, life transition counseling, and aging counseling. Although we have particular focuses as a mental health care facility, our individual specialties vary widely so that we can be more readily available to provide counseling services. Here at My Story Counseling, LLC, we strive to develop therapeutic relationships with our clients based on open communication and honesty. We focus on addiction as a disease and provide addiction counseling by helping people see it as not necessarily tied to one specific substance. We realize that one therapeutic model will not work for everyone, so we focus on the unique aspects of the individual person to help process the range of issues an individual could be dealing with. There are certain points in life that can provide so much stress that it is difficult to work through the issues. We specialize in life transition counseling to aid individuals through the particularly difficult points of one’s life. Our office is located in Chicago, but our counseling services extend throughout Evanston, Highland Park, Oak Park, and Skokie.
