Why did the computer go to the dentist? 🖥 #RiddleMeThis #FridayFun
Today is #wellnesswednesday and it also happens to be National Women's Health and Fitness Day! 🏃🏾♀️
Today, we'd like to remind you how important it is to prioritize your health and well-being. We often get caught up in our day to day lives and don't spend enough time on self-care.
To celebrate, do something for yourself today. Whether it's taking a much needed nap (sounds tempting, doesn't it? 😏), scheduling that annual check-up you've been putting off, or just going for a bike ride. We want you to start prioritizing your mental and physical well-being! 🥰
Happy #NationalFamilyDay! 👨👩👧👦

Today's #wellnesswednesday tip is to take care of your gut health! Your gut microbiota, the collective bacteria in your gut, has a major link to your overall health and well-being.
A disruption in gut bacteria is linked to some of the world’s most serious chronic diseases, including obesity.
You can improve your gut health by eating probiotic rich foods like yogurt and sauerkraut, taking probiotic supplements, and eating plenty of fiber. Fiber functions as fuel for your gut bacteria.
Check out this infographic from Dr. Vincent Pedre which outlines natural ways to improve your gut health!

Today's #wellnesswednesday tip is to stop using your phone at least 30 minutes before bed time! 📱
Here are 3 reasons why you should start this habit:
1. Using your phone constantly up until bedtime keeps you psychologically engaged and active! Checking your phone stimulates the brain so we are more active and awake - even a quick check can engage your brain and prolong falling asleep. 🧠
2. The blue light from the screen suppresses melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that is responsible for controlling your sleep-wake cycle. Not only is the blue light harmful to your eyes, it suppresses the your body's melatonin levels. 💡
3. Scrolling social media or checking your e-mails can "alert" your brain. For example, if you scroll through Facebook right before bed and see something that makes you upset, this triggers your brain and makes it active. Even seeing something right before bed that makes you happy can trigger a response that prolongs falling sleep, which consequently delays REM sleep. 📲

Flossing your teeth daily helps get to those spaces your toothbrush can’t reach.
Flossing daily, along with brushing and rinsing, helps protect against gingivitis by removing plaque and food particles. This keeps your teeth and gums healthy, while giving you a beautiful smile! 😁
If you don't remove the plaque by flossing, it can turn into tartar. Tartar is a hard, calcified plaque deposit, and once it builds up, only your dentist can remove it. Both plaque and tartar contribute to tooth decay, as well as gum disease and recession, which can both lead to eventual tooth loss.
It can seem tedious, but don't skip flossing. Start today and make it an essential part of your daily routine! #WellnessWednesday

Have you introduced your child to flossing yet? If not, here’s why you should!
According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, by age 5, approximately 60% of children have had some tooth decay. 😬 The good news is – this is preventable by exercising good oral hygiene, which includes flossing!
If you do not clean the spaces between your teeth, the harmful debris that is left behind can form plaque, which could harden and turn into tartar. This leads to cavities and potentially gum disease.
Here are a few tips on how to make flossing your child’s teeth easier:
🦷 Introduce flossing at a young age so they are familiar with it
🦷 Floss your child’s teeth for them first and then let them follow up with doing it themselves
🦷 Floss first, then rinse with water, followed by brushing
🦷 Floss together! Kids like to copy their parents – if they see you flossing, they’ll be more likely to floss as well
🦷 Compliment them on how great of a job they’re doing on flossing their teeth!

Today's #wellnesswednesday tip is to make sure you're getting enough protein in your diet! 🍗
Eating enough protein is vital for optimal health.
High protein intake boosts your metabolism and makes you feel full for longer. This can help you lose weight because when you feel full for long, you eat fewer calories.
Eating more protein can also reduce cravings and your desire to snack late at night. 🍿
Furthermore, adequate protein intake has also been shown to lower blood sugar and blood pressure level.
For those that are on a vegan diet, there are plenty of vegan protein sources. Check out this informational diagram!

Here are some tips on how you can get moving:
🏃🏾♀️ Take a break from sitting at your desk every hour and stretch! Set a timer if you need to.
🏃🏾♀️ Take a 30 minute walk every evening after work. Try to get in 10,000 steps each day.
🏃🏾♀️ Get the kids involved and do some exercises together with the family
🏃🏾♀️ Take up a new hobby that requires you to move - cycling, playing sports with the family or jogging
