Did you know that modern fillings need to be replaced roughly every 10 years? That's because they slowly wear down and lose their effectiveness.
According to a report by the CDC, 19% of adolescents aged 2 to 19 have untreated dental cavities. Make dental hygiene and regular dentist visits a top priority for your children.
Did you know your teeth are constantly growing? It's true. One of the roles of upper and lower teeth is to keep their opposite number in check so it doesn't become too long and cause problems. The phrase 'long-in-the-tooth' is not a convenient myth.
Tooth sensitivity is when you feel pain when you consume hot, cold, sweet, or acidic foods. It mainly occurs due to thinned tooth enamel. Some other causes are receding gums, chipped or fractured teeth, and tooth grinding during sleep.
Dental implants are posts that support replacement teeth. They fit directly into your jawbone and hold false teeth in place in the same way that roots support natural teeth. Your dentist will advise if implants are suitable for you.
How does diabetes affect your teeth? Because this disease affects a person's ability to respond to bacterial infections, it can manifest itself as abscesses, swollen gums, and other problems that aren't responding to normal dental care.
There are different types of dental specialties depending on the type of dental work that is needed. For example, an orthodontist can help with the straightening of teeth that are not in alignment.
Just like at your doctor's office, we also need a complete medical history as well as a list of any medications you are taking. While it may seem tedious, this is an important step in providing proper dental care and avoiding problems with treatment and medication.
When choosing a toothbrush, it is best to go with small-headed, soft-bristled ones. Toothbrushes with such features allow you to brush your teeth more gently and can better reach the back of the mouth as well as your back teeth.
If you have a preschooler making his or her first trip to the dentist, come in for a "get to know the dentist" visit. Think of it as a guided tour of the oral hygiene hall of fame.

Lasers were first mentioned by the renowned physicist and mathematician Albert Einstein in 1916. He postulated that some of the electromagnetic spectrum could be stimulated so as to produce amplified light. Years later, in the 1950s and 1960s, technological advances were made in the field of science that led to the lasers we know today.
While parents often pass on their fear of the dentist to their children, there is another side to the coin: children are more likely to visit the dentist regularly if their parents do. Are you setting a good example?

Elephants have the largest teeth of any animal in the world. Their tusks are actually incisors that come from the upper jaw, and only two-thirds of them are visible. The heaviest pair of tusks ever recorded weighed over 400 pounds.
Our new #trios intraoral scanner! We decided to upgrade to a @3shape scanner to help us simplify impressions for night guards, crown and bridge preps, digital dentures and ortho cases. Now, we don’t need to use impression material for a large majority of our cases. This means no more mess and no more gagging!
What’s even cooler is that our lab (@galaxydentallab) uses Trios software on their end, making it a seamless transition for our prosthodontic work.
Check out this article to get an idea of why scanning is a great alternative to conventional impressions especially during this time : https://www.3shape.com/en/blog/digital-vs-analog-hygiene?utm_campaign=Total_Tech_Week&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Clickdimensions

A New Year’s Message to our patients:
Our team at Nardi Family Dental wanted to take a moment to thank ALL of you for your continued trust and support with the dental care we have provided for you this year . To say the COVID-19 crisis has been unwelcomed in 2020 is an understatement. The virus caused all sorts of disruptive changes and unplanned events in everyone’s lives – some more so than others and some with lasting and unfortunate events. Reflecting back on 2020, we hope you can find some positive take-aways and realize what we still have and should nevertheless be grateful for. Thank you for your continued adherence to our office protocols for infection control and relying on us for your overall oral health during these trying times
As a way of showing our gratitude, we have been updating our office with new technology and equipment as well as attending exciting continuing education courses to help bring you the best care dentistry can offer. In the meantime, please adhere to protocols for hand washing, mask wearing, COVID testing when necessary, getting your flu vaccine, and of course obtaining the COVID vaccine when it becomes available to you. Happy New Year, and here is to a healthy future for all of us 😊
