He was in critical condition when he arrived at NVS - Clarksville late Sunday evening. He required blood transfusions, IV fluids, a feeding tube, wound management, and a whole lot of tender loving care to help him recover. Halloween may make your pets nervous or anxious due to the increase in noise, decorations and unfamiliar people. Ensure your pets are safe in a separate room during peak activity hours. If you decide to dress your pet for the occasion, here’s a few safety tips to keep in mind: 1) Ensure pet costumes don’t impair their vision, movement or air intake. 2) Avoid costumes that have small choke hazards. 3) Avoid dying your pet’s fur. Even if it’s labelled as non-toxic to humans, it may still be harmful to your pet.
Athena is doing great. We couldn't ask for a better patient. Tabrea Lynn Faulkner added a new photo to the album: 2020. — at Nashville Vet Specialists - Clarksville. October 20 at 5:23 PM · Clarksville, TN · Athena had her 10 week post op with Dr. Streppa this morning! According to the radiographs today, she is almost 100% healed in her bone (where they cut her tibia), and all of the hardware is still secured. After talking about a few concerns I had Dr. Streppa made me feel much better, and although I know Athena still has some recovering to do I am just so thankful she’s improved with all the mini heart attacks she gave me. With Athena having had her meniscus tear with her ACL, Dr. Streppa believes her discomfort is now soft tissue combined with arthritis from her injury. Which is to be expected. We are going to do some hydro therapy and obviously we’re still working on finding a great joint supplement she will actually eat. (Any recommendations drop them below!) Enjoy the picture of a patient bean waiting for her tech to come get her.

A disease like Parvovirus in dogs is highly contagious and can have deadly consequences. 🐩 Parvovirus attacks the intestines and heart. 🐕 The main source is feces of infected dogs. 🐶 The virus can affect puppies too young to be vaccinated, puppies within their vaccination course and unvaccinated adult dogs. 🐕‍ Vaccinating your pet is the only way to protect them from the disease. If your dog exhibits symptoms, take them to your nearest veterinarian to be tested immediately. The quicker they can be treated, the better the chance of recovery.

Would you be prepared if you had to evacuate during a disaster? It’s important to have a pet preparedness plan and emergency kit in place. Pet Emergency Kit Checklist: bottled water, pet food, blankets, leash, collar, harness, pet life jacket, flashlight, basic pet first aid kit, pet’s medical records, vet’s contact info, medications, photos of your pet.
