GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES The objective of this position is to communicate, build strong relationships, educate and follow up with clients and referral sources in the Metro Detroit area. This position requires lots of coordination with, clients, clinician, caregivers assuring timely care is provided to our clients. Medical Assistant will be responsible for managing all aspects of the intake and scheduling process. DUTIES As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the intake and scheduling process. Ensure documents are reviewed per organization process for admission approval. Managing On-call and be available to on call staff to answer any questions. Making sure all shifts are covered an adequate staff is available. Contact patients to verify demographic information and inform them that home health services have been ordered by their physician. Provide effective communication with patients, their families/caregivers, team members and other health care professionals. Maintains liaison relationship with hospital and insurance personnel, providing information and education on organization services, coverage issues and related areas. Comply with all organization policies & procedures and maintain confidentiality of patient records. Demonstrate commitment and professional growth by participating regularly in organization in-service programs. Collect and maintain statistical data on all referrals. Attends meetings and participates on committees as required. Verify insurance and obtain insurance authorizations as appropriate. Coordinate with clinical staff to schedule admission visits. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: One (1) year of medical administrative work experience preferred. Demonstrates the ability to utilize computer systems including electronic medical records systems, Microsoft Office, Excel, etc. Self-directed and able to multitask with minimal supervision. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read, write and comprehend English. Must have a driver’s license in good standing, reliable transportation and maintain auto liability insurance.
