Congratulations to this year's Detective of the Year - Detective Andrew Holmes.
Detective Holmes is known for his quest for excellence in every aspect of an investigation. During 2020, Detective Holmes was specifically assigned as the lead investigator for three homicides, of which an arrest was made in all three cases. He also took the lead in solving armed robbery cases that occurred in Albemarle, Charlottesville, and Stafford.
Detective Holmes is known for his care and compassion when working with victims and family members, as well as his unwavering resolve to bringing justice for victims and their families.

🚨Traffic Alert 🚨 Scottsville Area
UPDATE 2:00pm: Main Street (Route 6) in @ScottsvilleTown is closed from Route 20 (Valley St.) to South Street. Route 20 is open to traffic.
Multiple roads are closed in the Town of Scottsville due to a gas main leak. Please avoid the area, if possible. We are unable to give an estimated reopen time at this point.

Chief Ron Lantz is pleased to announce the recipients of a series of annual awards that recognize the tremendous work ACPD team members accomplished in the name of justice and public safety in 2020.
These awards recognize the collaboration, dedication, personal achievement, and commitment to excellence that ACPD team members undertake each year, even during such challenging years as 2020. Professionalism, community service, and leadership are a few examples of award focus areas.
In addition to the department awards, the Albemarle County Police Foundation distributes four annual awards to staff and community members for their leadership, professionalism, service, and community relations.
