Nelson S. Menezes, MD, is board-certified in general surgery and vascular surgery and has served patients for more than 25 years. Throughout his career, he has always provided personal attention to each patient at his New York City practice, Nelson Menezes Vascular Specialist PC, located in Brooklyn Heights and Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
Dr. Menezes offers two convenient locations to serve patients throughout the city, and he proudly performs minimally invasive vascular surgery and diagnostic procedures in his accredited, state-of-the-art surgical suite at his Brooklyn Heights office.
Dr. Menezes received his medical degree from Goa Medical College in Goa, India, and then earned his Bachelor of Surgery and Master of Surgery at the University of Bombay. After graduating, he traveled to the United Kingdom to complete fellowship training at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in London.
He continued his training at Brooklyn Hospital Center in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, and with deep dedication to expanding his knowledge and training, Dr. Menezes also completed fellowships in vascular surgery at Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee, and State University of New York at Stony Brook.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Menezes serves as the chief of vascular surgery and director of the Vascular Laboratory at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. He is an attending vascular surgeon at New York Presbyterian Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, NY. He also holds academic appointments as a clinical assistant professor of surgery at New York City’s Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Manhattan.
Dr. Menezes has been named a top doctor by US News and World Report. He was honored to receive the Distinguished Service Award, offered by his peers at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. In 2018, Dr. Menezes was awarded the prestigious Walter E. Reed Medal given to those who carry on a tradition of excellence and commitment.
Dr. Menezes maintains active membership in numerous professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the International Society of Endovascular Specialists. He’s also a member of the New York Society of Vascular Surgery, Vascular Access Society of Americas and the Society of Vascular Surgery.
