Getting ready for #ConstructionWeek20! 🎉 How will you be celebrating?
Good afternoon Des Moines! The Neumann crew has closed down 6th Avenue downtown to bring in a large crane. 🚧 We are removing the existing air handler to install a brand new one on the lower roof of the HUB Tower. Always great to see a plan fall into place! 👏🏼
Today and every day, we celebrate our clients in manufacturing. Happy Manufacturing Day! 🎉 #MFGDAY20
Neumann Brothers is excited about our project at 3750 on Grand. After 90 years, the First Church of Christ Scientist is being transformed into a new 8-story, 40-unit condominium in downtown Des Moines. Yesterday, we had the privilege of relocating the iconic 50-foot copper spire from the top of the historical church to feature on the grounds of the new property! We are proud to reuse the original stained glass and wooden doors to preserve the character and history of the building. A special shoutout to DeCarlo Demolition Company and Hartman Trapp Architecture Studio for being such great partners to work with on this legendary project! Thank you to WHO 13 News for the awesome video coverage. https://who13.com/news/transformation-bringing-new-life-for-site-of-former-des-moines-church/?fbclid=IwAR2ajNTKYZjgdF7h7HlKztOD-Tt4R9B2tLLbQBbk3ySHBV7hI8QvqBN6S_0 WHO13.COM Transformation Bringing New Life for Site of Former Des Moines Church

Today we're celebrating #throwbackthursday with the historical Scottish Rite Temple in Downtown Des Moines, Iowa. Construction began nearly 100 years ago when the architecture plans were approved in 1925 and completed in 1927. According to an article published in the Des Moines Register newspaper on August 1, 1926, the building cost over $1,000,000 to complete! The building features Neo-Classical style architecture and was officially added to the National Historic Registry in 1983. Have you visited the Scottish Rite Temple? The Scottish Rite Temple has had many visitors - including former President H.W. Bush! The Des Moines Register has described the building as "places Iowans love."

It was tower demo day at our project, 3750 on Grand. This took a lot of coordination, planning and skills to get the tower to fall in the right spot. We greatly appreciate our Superintedent, Robbi Howard. Plus a special thank you to the talented workers at DeCarlo Demolition Company who put their skills to work and made this demolition so successful! #Construction #Demolition #DesMoines #NeumannNow

With respect, honor, and gratitude we would like to thank all of our Veteran's for their service. 🇺🇸 We would like to give a special thanks to Henry Putney, an Army Veteran, for his service to our country as well as Neumann Brothers. After 44 years with us, he has decided to hang up his hard hat and retire. He will forever be part of our Neumann family and we couldn't be more grateful for his dedication, knowledge, and guidance over the past 4 decades. Check out our latest blog to learn more about Henry's legacy and how he truly has "touched the entire Des Moines skyline" during his career. https://www.neumannbros.com/superintendent-henry-putney-retires-after-44-years/
October saw our inaugural Iowa State University drone flight for our Sports Performance Center projects. At the time curtain wall frames were just finishing up. Currently glass is going in and we're racing to get the building enclosed before Iowa's winter makes it's official appearance. #iowastateuniversity #constructionindustry #construction
We are proud to announce that on October 17th at 9:06 PM our Neumann family grew by 7lbs and 3oz. Our safety manager, Alec Schaufenbuel and his wife Anne became first time parents to a beautiful baby boy named, Andrew David Schaufenbuel. We're happy to report that everyone is happy and healthy and Andrew is already a football champ with more hair than his dad!
Our Missouri Valley JATC project is nearing completion and we couldn't be more proud of all the teamwork that has gone into making this project such a success! Check out our latest video on the Missouri Valley JATC where our own Jeremy Alden walks you through the project. Special shoutout to ETHOS Design Group for being such a great partner on this project!
We thought the best way to conclude the Meredith Corporation #ThrowbackThursday series is with the bold "Plantoir" sculpture by Claes Oldenburg and Cossje van Bruggen. Installed by Neumann Brothers, "Plantoir" was moved from the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York in New York City to downtown Des Moines, Iowa in 2004 to celebrate Meredith's 100th anniversary! The grandiose sculpture stands 24 feet high, weighs 2,300 pounds, and can withstand winds of 120 miles per hour. In addition to celebrating the publishing firm's centennial anniversary, "Plantoir" also commemorates Meredith's role in their iconic Better Homes and Garden magazine. Have you visited the stunning "Plantoir" sculpture in downtown Des Moines? Tell us below!

Giving back to our community has always been the heart of Neumann Brothers. Today, we are excited to present the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden with a donation to support their mission of exploring, explaining, and celebrating the world of plants. 🌷 Thanks to community partners, the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden has been able to meet our community where they are by providing virtual and onsite programs that have engaged 60,000 children, families and adults through music, wellness programs, and free online plant activities. Funds also support their free admission program that welcomed 3,000 guests this past year. For more information on how you can support the Garden, visit dmbotanicalgarden.com/support/donate/.
Neumann’s talented team of carpenters, millwrights, engineers, and laborers understand the importance of preserving history while continuing to innovate the construction industry.
This week’s #ThrowbackThursday is part two of the Meredith Corporate Headquarters building in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. The Meredith Corporation is a nationwide media and marketing company with a global reach. In 1941, Neumann Brothers began the process of building five additions to the Meredith headquarters. A notable addition is the two-story color press room. This project provided space for a second press unit and paper storage. Neumann Brothers completed the color press room in 1946.
Last year we finished our historic restoration work at the Brooklyn Opera House in Brooklyn, Iowa. During our journey on this project we learned that the back side of the stage walls hold a lot more history than most realize. The performers and entertainers that have traveled to the historic 1911 Opera House have left stories of their legacies behind. The wooden ship lap walls house hand written notes and flyers that date back over 100 years. It became known that if you perform at the Brooklyn Opera House you leave a piece of your story behind for those who come after you. We are so proud to have been part of this buildings history and are honored to share this little behind-the-scenes look with you all!
