October is National Adopt-a-Dog Month!
The Veterinary Community is so passionate about animals, and so we believe that spreading the word about National Adopt-a-Dog Month could really help save the lives of some dogs without homes. Let us know about the animal you adopted in the comments below!

Each week we will be highlighting one or two of our employees, so that you can get to know them a little better. Meet Kiana. She is one of our room assistants. Kiana is recently attending college to become a Vet Tech. She has 1 cat “Shakira.” She is aspiring to work as a Vet Tech abroad, possibly in Spain. She has been with us for almost 5 months.
Our hospital’s mantra has always been to provide the best care we can to ALL species, not just dogs and cats. A pet rat is loved by his human friend. We are dedicated to giving all the species we care for the opportunity to have excellent medical/surgical care. This little friend had a tumor removed successfully this week.
We offer kitten and puppy packages for well care for your little ones. These can be found on our website www.newburghvet.com

What you already know we do during daytime hours (left)
What we did after hours last week (right)
An older dog came in with clear signs of peritonitis. We were closing for the night. The overnight emergency clinic wouldn’t be able to get him to surgery until much later -maybe too late.
Our junior doctors swung into action. Drs. Toso and Steinbeiser removed several feet of perforated, dying intestine. By ten pm he was sleeping comfortably in our heated intensive care unit, warm iv fluids dripping away. This is what we do (and we vaccinate puppies and kittens, too).

Meet “Jack” one of our newest patients. He was a rescue who was abandoned by his original owner, and has now found his forever home with one of our clients. A happy ending 💕

Today is #WorldCancerDay - a day to raise awareness of cancer and encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. Here are 8️⃣ signs of cancer in pets. Regular check-ups with your veterinarian are crucial as pets today have a better chance of being successfully treated for neoplasia and cancer than they did before, thanks to advances in early recognition, diagnosis and treatment. http://bit.ly/2OenYrc
Veterinary technicians perform many tasks. They are the equivalent to human nurses for animals. Laly and Danielle are getting this little guy fancied up by giving him a pedicure 🐶
