Thursday, February 11th, 2021 is National Inventors' Day. Today we celebrate the inventions of the past and encourage innovations in the future! Some noteworthy inventors in train history include:
- James Watt and his assistant William Murdoch, who created the first self-propelled steam engine
- Richard Trevithick, who produced a full scale locomotive that completed the first steam-powered rail trip in February, 1804
- Werner von Siemens, who introduced the first electric trains in the 1880's
