Best wishes for a Happy Holiday, from all of us at Nichols Jackson.
We are closed today and tomorrow; will resume regular hours on Wednesday.
Many of us at Nichols Jackson have pets who were adopted from shelters, so this story hits close to home.🐕🐈🐩
This story also offers a practical reminder that the specific language in ordinances matter, and how important it is to stay informed of changes in case law. How this city's ordinance is drafted may affect the outcome of this case. Following the Lira case mentioned in the article, many of our clients revised their animal ordinances. It was a small change, but can have a big impact!

Happy Thanksgiving!
We will be closed tomorrow and Friday, but will resume our normal schedule on Monday.
Today is the first day Texas lawmakers can file bills for the next session. They were busy, with over 400 bills filed!
Among these are items proposing to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana, eliminating day light savings, prohibiting cities from restricting children's lemonade stands, and limiting the number of chickens people can have in their backyards.
Thousands of bills will be filed, and only a small percentage will pass. We will monitor what is happening in Austin in order to keep up to date as to how this legislative session may impact the many municipal entities we represent.
Thank You - to all those who have served.
Senior associate Alexis Allen is in Houston today for the annual Texas Coalition of Cities for Utility Issues (TCCFUI) seminar. This is just one example of how we are continually working to stay up-to-date with the ever-changing legal landscape concerning the regulation of technology and utilities.
