My passion for becoming a doula really blossomed during my work towards nursing school. My interests have always been in providing care, but as I continued my schooling I grew more and more intrigued by the miracle of birth. I thought about the impact I wanted to make and I decided to take my passion for pregnancy, labor, postpartum and reproductive health into action and become a Birth Doula. I completed the birth doula workshop in March 2019 at Bastyr University’s Simkin Center. My philosophy as a doula is to support birthing parents by providing information without any judgement. Whether this is your first or fifth birth, there will always be new questions that arise and unforeseen obstacles. I am here to offer a safe space full of encouragement, guidance, and advice to make your birthing experience as enjoyable as possible. I will be your liaison for communicating with medical professionals, fostering open dialogue with your doctors and helping ensure questions get answered. I believe that with a lot of love, the right support, and guidance, every person has the opportunity to birth in their own way. No matter the type of pregnancy you may have, no matter how you end up going into labor and bringing your baby into the world, you need support. As your doula, I will give you the emotional and physical support you’ll need during your transition into parenthood. I have found that trust and comfort comes from knowing the person who will be with you during your birthing experience and sharing common interests is a plus. Some of my interests include spending time with my puppy, Toki (expect unsolicited photos), going to concerts with my family and friends, learning about up-and-coming cities and building itineraries for trips without dates, reading non-fiction novels, running Green Lake, and discovering new coffee shops.
