Dr. Ather received her undergraduate degree in biology and psychology from Saint Louis University. She continued at Saint Louis University for medical school as part of the combined eight-year BA/MD Medical Scholars Program and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She then came to Los Angeles where she completed both her internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at UCLA.
Dr. Ather practices general gastroenterology with special interest in inflammatory bowel disease. During fellowship, she was awarded a position in the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Visiting Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program where she underwent additional training at the University of Chicago Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center. Dr. Ather also has clinical expertise in colon cancer screening, gastroesophageal reflux disease, motility disorders, functional bowel disorders, colorectal disorders, colonoscopy, and endoscopy. She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
