We want to thank everyone who has reached out to our clinic today regarding a comment that was made by an individual on Facebook, who elsewhere has Noran Clinic listed as her place of employment. We have been receiving messages throughout the day regarding this matter and have actively looked into this individual internally, as the comments made are not representative of Noran Neurological Clinic's values.
We can confirm that Sherry James is not, nor has she ever been, employed by Noran Clinic. Ms. James was an employee of Quest Diagnostics, a company that performs lab services for our clinic. She has not been involved with Quest’s services at Noran Clinic for over a year. We have passed along the information regarding her social media post directly to our contact at Quest, so that they are aware.
We have requested her employment information be corrected on LinkedIn. It is important to us that our clinic culture and values are reflected by our employees’ interactions in their lives and online, and we appreciate being alerted to an individual claiming to be a Noran Clinic employee when that is not accurate.
We will continue to show the support and care that we have for our patients, community, staff, and providers both in and outside of our clinic walls.
"Thanks to Lifting Hearts with the Arts, a nonprofit organization in Chicago founded by Joshi, senior-living residents have been able to participate virtually in social activities—like playing Jeopardy!—during the pandemic. Concerned by news reports about lockdown policies in assisted living facilities and residences for the visually impaired that prohibit visitors, group dining, and congregating in common areas, Joshi pitched an idea to her sister and parents one morning in March: How about creating a program that helps seniors stay socially connected?"

"About 11 years ago, I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy. As a result, I have numbness in my feet, calves, and hands, which gets worse at night.
Until I was infected with the coronavirus in March, my peripheral neuropathy was more annoying than painful. After I got sick, it went into overdrive. I had much more pain in my hands and feet, and my balance was affected. My COVID-19 symptoms were exhaustion, chest pain, diarrhea, terrible headaches, and loss of smell."

"Finally, in October, I had an appointment with the neurologist. He walked me through my MRI, showing me how the hippocampus on the right side of my brain was shriveled and much smaller than the one on the left. He said that this type of malformation can cause seizures—Focal Onset Impaired Awareness Seizures, to be exact. The overall diagnosis? Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE), which can either originate in the outer or the inner region of the temporal lobe, according to the Epilepsy Foundation. Since the hippocampus is located in the middle (inner) of the temporal lobe, I was experiencing focal seizures that affected the formation of memories, spacial awareness, and emotional responses."

"The holidays are usually filled with joyful anticipation of visits with extended family and boisterous celebration. This year, however, many families are planning quieter, smaller get-togethers, putting safety first. For families affected by chronic neurologic conditions, this precaution is not only wise but also the ultimate expression of love—from grandchildren who want to protect their grandparents to healthy people who want to keep those more vulnerable from possibly getting the virus. As the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises, smaller gatherings allow us to limit contact, maintain safe distances, and reduce the risk of spread."
