North Baldwin Infirmary's Birth Center has received several awards and recognitions including a silver Beacon Award for Excellence, Baby-Friendly designation and Better Bama Babies designation for meeting the highest standards for maternity care and infant breastfeeding. We are proud of all of these recognitions, but the words of those we care for mean the world to us! Thank you, Lesley Kessler, for sharing your story.
"...I do want to say I’m extremely thankful for the lactation consultant, Christa. She has worked with me for a month trying to help me and my little guy breastfeed and even caught the fact that he had both a lip and tongue tie. Every new mom should consider themselves lucky to have her to help them with their breastfeeding journey. I would have given up if not for her." - Lesley Kessler
From 2013 to 2017, the breast cancer death rate decreased by 1.3% per year. Experts believe this is the result of finding breast cancer earlier through screening and increased awareness, as well as better treatments.
Getting screened at one of our breast centers is as easy as 1, 2, 3.
1️⃣ Schedule an appointment with your doctor and get an order for your breast imaging.
2️⃣ Once you have obtained a referral from your physician, schedule your appointment at one Infirmary Health’s breast centers.
3️⃣ Have your screening and get your results!

Smoking is the biggest risk factor for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It increases your risk of both developing and dying from COPD.
COPD is a chronic disease that can cause long-term disability and early death. And while there is no cure for COPD, it is often preventable and treatable.
If you are concerned about getting COPD,
❌ Stop smoking & don’t start.
❌ Avoid secondhand smoke.
❌ Be aware of other dangers such as chemicals, dust and fumes.
If you are experiencing chronic cough, frequent respiratory infections, wheezing and other symptoms it’s time to schedule an appointment with a pulmonologist. Visit infirmaryhealth.org/medicalclinics to find a specialist in your area.
Real Men DO Wear Pink!
This year Infirmary Health’s executive vice president and COO, Joe Stough, was named a candidate for the American Cancer Society's Real Men Wear Pink campaign. Together with the support of Infirmary Health employees and the community, Joe Stough raised over $40,000 for breast cancer initiatives. This donation total places Joe Stough as #1 in the state of Alabama and #12 nationally. Additionally his donation total is the largest received by Real Men Wear Pink of South Alabama.
Congratulations to Joe, and thank you to all of you who helped us achieve this goal!
