Celebrate National Black Dog Day by adopting a black dog!!
Happy National Black Dog Day!! What is National Black Dog Day? This day is about loving our best four legged friend with black fur. Did you know that black dogs are the least likely to be adopted? However, black dogs are just as lovable, loyal and cuddly as any other color of dog! In fact, here are some reasons to love black dogs: *They have a stunning colored coat *Their coat naturally looks and stays cleaner *They’re a family dog *They look dashing with accessories *They have a beautiful face *They’re great snuggle buddies *They’ll love you unconditionally We Love all our black doggies!!!
Is your dog crate trained? Your dog’s crate is a safe haven, not a place for punishment! The crate provides protection while you are away. Before putting your dog in the crate, be sure he has been: 1) exercised well, 2) been fed, 3) allowed to eliminate, and 4) given access to fresh water. Offer a favorite toy to keep your pet occupied when not napping. Keep to a daily schedule to help your dog adjust to the crate space. Call the practice today if you have any concerns about using the crate with your pet.
Dogs are our angels! We're so lucky to have them!!

November is National Pet Cancer Awareness Month!! Cancer is the leading disease-related cause of death for domestic dogs & cats in the U.S., so this month, spread the word to help educate pet owners about how best to protect their furry family members. Cancer in these animals continues to increase over the years, but the good news is, there are advances being made in veterinary medicine when it comes to early detection and treatment!!
We couldn't agree more!!
Today is also National Canine Lymphoma Awareness Day. Lymphoma is a blanket term used to describe a group of cancers that stem from the lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that helps the immune system fight off infections. These special white blood cells are most highly concentrated in the lymph nodes, the spleen, and bone marrow and are often where most lymphoma cancers are found. Keeping up with regular veterinary exams can help establish a good healthy baseline for your pet and help point us in the right direction if something changes!

NOVEMBER IS PET DIABETES MONTH!! It is estimated that 1 in 300 adult dogs and 1 in 230 cats in the US have diabetes. WHAT IS PET DIABETES? Pets with diabetes cannot produce or utilize insulin properly, preventing the conversion of food to energy. WHAT HAPPENS WITHOUT INSULIN? Without the conversion to energy, extra sugar left in the blood leads to lethargy and other health problems. CAN PET DIABETES BE FIXED? Diabetes cannot be cured, but with proper treatment and monitoring your pet can live a long, happy life!!!

December is National Cat Lovers' Month!! How are you going to celebrate? When every day of the month is Caturday, there are so many possibilities! Here are some suggestions for joining in this month of fun feline festivities! *Buy some new cat toys: Cats get bored easily, so getting new toys will help to keep them stimulated and their mind sharp. *Splurge on new cat furniture: Whether it's a new bed, scratching post or cat tree, your cat will love having something new to explore in the house. *Primp your pet: Get their nails trimmed, brush their fur, and brush their teeth. Make sure to give them lots of treats during and after! *Schedule a check up: What better way to love your cat than by making sure they are in tip-top shape! *Share the love in your community: Make a cat food donation to a local rescue, or volunteer to love on some of the shelter kitties.
Just a reminder to make sure to keep your pets safe this Holiday Season!!
Winston just had a Dental yesterday!! Look how happy he is!! The cutest little Santa's Helper!!!
It's almost New Years!! It's a great time to make some resolutions for the year ahead with your dog!! *New Year’s Resolution #1: Get your pooch’s weight where it belongs. In a recent study, thinner dogs lived an average of more than 2 years longer than slightly chubby ones. You want your dog with you for as many years as possible, so talk to his vet about a sensible weight loss plan! *New Year’s Resolution #2: Get vigorous exercise at least five times a week. That’s pretty easy to do with a dog, since it might mean just chasing his favorite toy around the house for 20 minutes at a time. Walking, for most dogs, is the ideal exercise. *New Year’s Resolution #3: Get an annual physical check-up for your dog. Just do it—an appointment twice yearly with your vet can save your best friend’s life! *New Year’s Resolution #4: Give your dog some social time with other dogs. While a fraction of dogs don’t enjoy the company of other dogs, most love to play and just hang out with other dogs. Find a play group (or start one) of other nicely behaved dogs. Your dog will love you for it! *New Year’s Resolution #5: Take as good care of yourself as you take care of your dog. Your furry friend needs for you to be healthy and long-lived, just like you want him to be. So, go get your own annual check-ups! Check with your own doctor about a diet and exercise plan. Step one might be a long, lovely walk with your dog on New Year’s morning. And that may start a whole new season in your life with your dog!!
We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas to you & your furbabies!!!
We would like to wish you and your family a very Happy & Healthy New Year!!
Tomorrow is New Year's Eve!!! Allow your pets to join in on the festivites while keeping them Safe!!

With obvious health benefits for both you and your dog, this awareness month is a great way to help dust off the January blues, get out and about, meet other dog walkers and improve your own and your dogs well being! That’s why regular wellness exams are so important to catch health conditions early. However, there are some telltale signs of pain in cats, outlined below. Not sure why your cat is acting the way they are? Let us know!!

Today is Seeing Eye Guide Dog Anniversary! Today we remember and celebrate the anniversary of how seeing-eye guide dogs came to be in America. According to TheSeeingEye.org, the first seeing-eye guide dog school in America, The Seeing Eye, first came to be on January 29th, 1929 and is believed to be the oldest guide dog school to exist. It is because of Morris Frank that seeing-eye guide dogs and this school came to be. The Seeing Eye still has its headquarters in Morristown, NJ & celebrates 92 years today!!
This is great for a laugh!! New dog cross breeds!! Enjoy!!
